The right guys need to be going at the right time, and then someone unexpected has to bring a little extra to the table. That happened in 2012, when Kopitar, Doughty, and Quick were all very good, and then Brown caught a hurricane in a bottle, and King was big in the Coyotes series. Along with everyone else doing their job for the most part. You can go through the whole roster in 2012, pretty much every guy had at least one moment where they did something big. In 2013, they didn't get enough from Kopitar or Doughty to get past the 3rd round. In 2014, after the first couple games, they got Kopitar, Doughty, Quick playing well. Muzzin added something. Then the 70's line came alive against Chicago, and Gaborik and Williams were a little ridiculous.
Basically, if Kopitar, Doughty, and Quick are playing well, and they get help when needed, the Kings have a shot. That's the same formula for every team though. The teams that win have all of those parts working at the same time. Top guys, and depth guys. If it's just one or the other, you can go a round or two, but that'll be it.
