I like Rupp, might not agree with everything he said, but he does make good points specifically about the aura around the team.

At the same time, wouldn't the start of the season also negate the on-ice performance stemming from Goodrow? It's more likely they faced adversity and folded.
I think it was a "straw that broke the camel's back" kind of situation. All this stuff has been building and building and building. The memo with Kreid's & Trouba's names getting out there was a jolt that tipped this over the edge.

Mollie Walker's latest article says Drury has been meeting with team leadership, has met with all the individual players, and met with the team as a whole today before practice
Yeah probably because he’s shitting himself knowing he can’t get rid of all these guys who hate his guts. And it would be a lot easier to get rid of him

No. Maybe Goodrow for another year as I don't think his salary would have stopped them from doing anything this season, especially with Trouba gone. Whether it's illegal or not, Drury did Goodrow dirty and I can see why the players are pissed. My issue with Drury is, he's a fake tough guy. Be a man and talk to these guys like a man. Maybe the fallout wouldn't have been so severe. Big, big, picture, he's made this team worse this year.
This is such an interesting point. I feel like many of the fans who are pissed at the players and calling out their supposed lack of mental fortitude and leadership, are not realizing that the players themselves are pissed at Drury for exactly those same reasons. Where is the leadership? Where is the notion of facing the music and addressing your team head on? Having difficult conversations? Drury has shown none of it.

This season? Yeah, he has a pretty awful back injury that's he's been playing through. He looks terrible out there (happy to have a separate conversation about the absurdity of hockey culture and the fact that players feel compelled to play through injury).
He did take a game off, but the lunatics then cooked up a conspiracy theory that he was open about his injury to scare teams away from trading for him :propeller

In fairness - there might have been some truth to that . I think the timing of Kreids suddenly talking openly about the extent of his injury couldn't have just been coincidence.

In either case, it's categorically true that he's REALLY beat up. The dude didn't just stop skating and trying this season out of no where.

Hopefully Drury's meeting included something to the effect of "you have been the worst team in the league for weeks, play better."

These players are pathetic and should be thankful they don't work literally anywhere else.

Waaahhh my boss was a little mean, now I'm going to stop trying at all and give up.

I'm very much in the camp of them being real humans and hockey is a job that they have and all that. That's why I don't tolerate personal abuse on here over losing a game.

That being said, this whole thing about losing friends in trades and what have you -- THAT HAPPENS TO REAL PEOPLE!!

My company laid off a good friend of mine recently for no reason. They thought they were making cuts, and then we overperformed, and actually ended up hiring a bunch of people. They laid her off anyway because "ah f*** it, we already decided." They uprooted somebody's life because they're f***ing idiots.

I still have to come here and perform. And you know what? I'll get over it. We can text.

Not being paid is a real issue. Not having your health expenses covered is a real issue. Abuse and bullying is a real issue. Your co-workers leaving is just work. All things end.
If I was offered

A) the same salary and a one hundred percent guarantee that I’d stay on or
B) a 15 percent pay raise but I could be moved to another college or university at any time

And I and a bunch of my colleagues pick B, we’ve lost the right to bitch about it when someone gets picked up on their option.

Get the no move or shut up and cash your checks that YOU CHOSE

No sympathy for Kreider, Trouba, Goodrow

Dont think Drury is the one shitting himself, based on how the players have responded the last month.
Yeah and really I doubt that if ownership considered Drury on the hot seat that they'd greenlight him shipping out Kakko for futures. I mean this is Dolan, if he was unhappy with Drury he'd be in there. Especially with Sather out of the picture.

Dolan probably stepped in and said trade Trouba the malconent. Its pretty much universally accepted that Trouba quit on the team coming into the season. He said it himself when he got traded to Anaheim.

The mandate from on high seems to be that they arent waiting to handle the family business. Trouba and Goodrow contracts have been issues for years. Poof! Gone. Kakko has been in trade rumors since the day he was acquired, they gave him 6 years of rope and he hung himself. Kakko acknowledged that today. The BFFs situation with Lindgren/Fox and Mika/Kreider is also going to be dealt with after Christmas I assume. Never like to rip families apart during the holiday season. Adversity sucks but it heals. We are all smart enough to know these issues have been our downfall time and time again.

I'm sorry not buying the argument that the players are hurt or angry or whatever.

You are highly paid professionals. Who among us hasn't had bad bosses or bad management or a bad company ? It happens.

Stop winning and stop being butt hurt. You are cashing your checks aren't you and giving back a half assed effort. You are what your record says you are .

I don’t. The players should want to win a championship.
I mean, you're absolutely right and I agree. Winning should always be the primary focus for anyone associated with a professional sports team, whether it's the owners, the front office, the players, team personnel, etc.

What I meant was that I can understand if guys feel a particular way about how Trouba and Goodrow were handled. It certainly doesn't excuse any lapse in effort or anything else that distracts from the aforementioned goal of winning. It's the only part in this though where I can understand guys being upset. I personally loved how Drury was ruthless in getting those moves made, but I could see why some of the players wouldn't.

The rest, about personnel being let go and policies about travel changing and all that shit, that's just normal when new leadership takes over. And these guys should all know it and be professionals.

I saw multiple pics of Kakko actually smiling today. Like real toothless smiles. It's like seeing pics of an ex you dumped, having the time of their life and happy to be out of the relationship on Facebook or some shit the next day.
He's looking hot in sea foam green
