Could’ve easily called Tkachuk for bumping into the goalie. But let’s just overlook what the goalie did with his stick as Tkachuk skated past as we’re preaching about following the rule book. Matching minors before Tkachuk ever came back out in front of the net.
This is what people mean when they say Florida gets away with everything. It's not just matching minors. It's 4 minors on Tkachuk and one on the goalie. And the goal shouldn't count.

That's 5 to 1 in favor of the Panthers on this sequence.

Well, if it’s matching minors the play is stopped before anything else occurs. But since they both were let go...
The little shot he gave varly after coming back in front had no impact on the goal. I get the goalie is usually in bubble wrap, but that would never be called against another skater. The rest you may have on your list must be after the goal was scored, so would have no bearing on if the goal counts or not.

As an isles fan I didn’t see anything wrong. Thats his game.
Varly could have gotten called for a hook/slash. He gave Varly a little cross check and that was it. He was in the crease but the puck was loose.

I wasn’t up in arms thinking there should have been a penalty there or thinking Tkachuk got away with something.
Are you in a room full of Florida men? Are you safe?

Islanders went from being a pain in the ass to play against to becoming soft and complacent. They've become a team that has refused to create an identity that can keep up with the NHL, and they're getting punished by the NHL's best teams as a result. They keep blowing 3-0 leads, they have forwards who are ineffective at pressure, and their defense is slow. If it wasn't for Varlamov and Sorokin, this team would've been picking top 10 the past few years.

I think the bigger irony is Lamoriello signing back Matt Martin, only for this to happen. Florida looked hungrier, angrier and more complacent WITHOUT Barkov than the islanders without Duclair.
Florida is the best team in league . Just beat the Rags in New York. The fact the Isles got up 3-0 on them is more than most could do. But yea. It's no secret who the Islanders are.

because they play AGGRESSIVE and constantly pressure. I hate them but the NHL is so soft that they can just play like that all they want. i'm not mad, i'm glad these guys are tough. make the NHL show some brass balls again.
Follow the leader.

Huh? I wouldnt yap at all if I was a Boston fan ;)
Panthers are the modern day Bruins.
Panthers having been feeding the Bruins they're old game the last two years and two play off rounds.
Credit the Bs for making some changes this summer that are based on playing the league best Panthers.

I think Florida benefits from the fact that referees generally like to keep the penalty calls relatively even during a game and Florida commits a ton of infractions every game. So the Panthers might commit way more penalties than the other team, but only get called for one or two more each game. If you’ve got a PK that can bail you out when the refs are calling things tight (and Florida does), it’s not a bad strategy.

FLA thrives off of agitation and constant pressure, not intimidation/toughness. Those Boston teams were a different beast all together.

This is such a great tkachuk goal. Everything from the original bump, to the cross-check, to the digging for a loose puck, and then to bumping into the goalie and rubbing it in after the goal.

It's a hilarious sequence.

😉 agree to disagree

Don't forget the dive behind the net too, stayed down just long enough to realize no call was coming. He's the best at all of it, amazing that the league hasn't caught on by now
