It's strategery related to draft capital. It absolutely qualifies, though it's not strictly a transaction with another team. It's not a trade. It's punishment...it's more akin to a suspension or fine than a trade or signing.

This what I’d do as well, keep pressuring league for the NJ option.I'd wait and hope the NHL lessens the punishment, like they did for the Devils. Staois doesn't have the pull Lou does/did but there's precedent for the league scaling back on what was originally considered a steep penalty.
The league amended the Kovalchuk draft pick penalty for the Devils. Originally we were supposed to forfeit a 1st rounder between 2011-14. Devils had pick #29 in 2012 which seemed like the opportune time but Lou oddly decided to keep it; Urban legend in my mind was that the Devils missed the deadline to declare (48 hours after the end of the SCF) because they were involved in the SCF that year and forgot. But I vaguely recall a short statement from Lou saying they actively decided to keep the pick.
Lou kept the 2013 pick as the draft was hosted in New Jersey and it was a top 10 pick. So it seemed like they had painted themselves into a corner and were forfeiting the 2014 1st. Then in March 2014, the league announced that the penalty would be altered to the Devils 2014 1st being moved to #30.
IIt's of now their pick looks to be around 18-20. If the advance yo conf finals it goes to 29-32The Ottawa Senators are in the playoffs and that pick is likely in the mid twenties, do the Ottawa Senators, say f*** it and give up the years pick and get it over with.
2026 is supposed to be s deeper draft and them missing the playoffs us s very real possibility. You never know what is going to happen next year, this is a shit gong that is hanging over the team, I hope they just get rid of it, this year.
What happened?Hefty fine...and punishment to the actual person...dorion should have received an ban from the NHL.
Not punish andlauer/staios and sens fans.
Dorion didn't tell Vegas that dadonov had a partial NTC and Vegas later found out when trying to trade him to Anaheim. What happened?
I like hearing regular Joe's can run 50 million dollar companiesDorion didn't tell Vegas that dadonov had a partial NTC and Vegas later found out when trying to trade him to Anaheim.
So dorion wasn't honest with Vegas GM...not sure if it was stupidity by dorion or intently deceiving....or both lol.
Those professional sports fans, made out like bandits then.I like hearing regular Joe's can run 50 million dollar companies
Our forward prospect group is dry due to some questionable and traded picks. 2020 was a while ago and I’m not sure they want to wait another year. We also don’t have a 2nd this year after we traded it for ZetterlundXWhy do you have this feeling? What is the team gunning for, if they don't give up the pick this year?
It's because they messed with the NHL's golden franchise. If they did this to any other team they probably wouldn't have as severe of a punishment.I still think this punishment of losing a first is ridiculous for Ottawa.
Such a heavy hand punishment.
The worst part is how the NHL lied to Andlauer about this before he bought the team, hinting that the penalty would be light. It actually pisses me off that Ottawa is losing a pick over that. And I'm not even that much of a fan of the sens.

The worst thing about a shit gong is that someone inevitably comes along and bangs it, and then there's shit everywhere. The Ottawa Senators need to give up their first round because of the Dadonov trade f*** up.
