Nope.

The Jets have faced very high calibre teams in the postseason.

look at the last two seasons...
Vegas. Won the cup and a stacked Colorado with 2 of the best players in the NHL .

I've argued the Jets were not as bad as thier record in either series (go watch the games again...Jets were not great or even good, but the "boys against men" narrative is BS and with some puck luck the Jets were "in" both series.

..say the Jets get the goal in OT and go up 2-1 on vegas? then what happens?

Suppose last year, Georgieve, a 908 career tender,... doesn't post a .933, 917, .963 .944 over the last 4 games? Jets were pushing 30 shots a night that series. under pretty much every other circumstance Georgieve has faced like that he's been a sieve...last year? he went ballistic over 4 games, and as soon as he came back down to earth? Dallas kicked the Avs out easily.

Imagine if the Avs don't get like 7 PP in a row last year or whatever it was......

I also think Bones chickened out, changed the game plan tooo much to late in the game and that cost them.

So no. I think what happened last year especially HELPED the Jets.
They probably should have won, and when they got rocked by the Avs, puck luck, and the Refs... they couldn't right the ship....

but a lot of the way they have been playing this year, the streaks, the dominance of Good teams, winning in big moments and big games... I think last season the KNOW they f***ed up, and they KNOW they lost thier way.

I think the roster. to a man, are pissed. pissed at being left off rosters at four nations.pissed at being benched during the final, ..pissed at being ignored and discounted in the offseason by "experts" and gamblers....

I think it did make them closer as a team. hungrier, angrier, and with a massive chip on thier shoulder....

And I thin the league know it. and NOBODY want's to have o walk in this barn, see the whiteout, and play this team.!

Go Jets Go!

Guys, the Jets are never going to win the cup. Just accept it. And even if they do, hockey is just a stupid children’s game that doesn’t really matter, and soon you and everyone you love will be dead.

This is how I express my Jets fandom. I’m not a pessimist, just a realist. Thanks for reading!

I'm sorry when you give answers like this about the Leafs and then can't spell half of the Jets players name's remotely right you come off as Leafs fan on the Jets board just to cause shit . But that answer about the Leafs, who lost to the Sharks last night bye the way, did make me laugh....

Toffoli and Monahan aren’t Jets players, so who cares how their names are spelled…lol

I honestly don’t think we’re built for a Cup yet…we are missing a true 2C and I think that’s going to bite us in the ass come playoff time.
Also, the coaches obsession with giving Stanley any ice time is confusing…he’s a bench pilot and should stay there until filling in for injuries.
If we win the conference, I think we get to the 2nd round, but depending on who we meet there, will decide if we get further…I’m not expecting us to get to the Conference finals. Our biggest challenge will be the teams confidence and egos…they need one to be extremely high and the other to be in serious check for any success.
As for past debacles, I’m still in awe of our complete collapse vs Vegas in 2018

I think it's reasonable to have some doubt.

I went into the last playoffs against the Avs very confident. We beat them 3-0 in the regular season series and outscored them 17-4. It would have been completely rational to think we were going to beat them in the playoffs.

We didn't just lose against them in the playoffs in 5 close games, we were steamrolled in the last 4 getting outscored 22-8.

I'll still be reasonably confident heading in this year, but as they say, once bitten twice shy.

I have been called out for being concerned regular season success does not guarantee playoff success based on the past 2 playoff 'debacles'. I know I am not the only one who is thinking this way. The playoffs is a brand new season. The jets have ben exceptional this year but still have weaknesses that can be exploited . I think this is a very reasonable reason to be concerned considering the playoffs is a new season, a war of attrition and they have 'crashed and burned the past two playoff seasons.

I hope to get serious responses but we will see.
Thanks,

10 games ago, I put out a blind offer to bet on the Jets to win round 1, and even lay 6:5 odds, with the full intent of being haggled up to 7:5 if need be. None of my friends bit.

Offer still stands, present company included.

I think everybody’s confidence is affected by past playoff performances.

I do think the Jets have enough talent to win the Cup. How bad do they want it ?

It will all depend on their star players like Helle, Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers and Morrissey stepping up, and leading the team. So far we haven’t seen that.

I think we’ll get out of Round 1, but I’d at least like to win Round 2.

We’ll see how badly the boys want it ?

I don't care what happened last year , that's in the past. The Jets have made a believer out of me with the incredible season we have had this season. The playoffs are a different game i know but if you don't have confidence in them after the season we have had so far then i don't think you ever will.

That 4-straight-loss playoff futility extends back to the Atlanta days of the franchise as well...I wonder if it doesn't psychologically haunt the current players, even though there's no one around who was there for the Atlanta days, and only Scheifele and Lowry were on that team that lost to the Ducks in 2015.

I really thought Wheeler was a big part of the problem - he seemed to drag the team down with him when he was sulking (end of the 2018 Vegas series, end of the Blues series, and I thought the "no pushback" game of the 2023 series against Vegas felt like a Wheeler sulkbomb as well). But Wheeler was gone last year and the Jets still imploded.
Although the team vibes have done a complete 180 after wheeler's departure idk if I agree with pinning the 2023 Vegas series on him.

He was one of very few Jets players that battled that series. The no push-back theme that underpinned that team IMO didn't apply fully to him that series.

To answer to original poll, and offer my 0.02:

- last year? Oh yes, that sucked. That was last year. Some doubt for the future is not unreasonable, but by the same token, to expect the same result may be unreasonable.
- All teams must learn how to win in the playoffs - this is rarely a fun process. We have the same core with some new additions and some development. I'll put it there that this team has learned a few things.
- intangibles - this year has been over the top. This team "feels" different to me, something others have mentioned.
- summation ->

Yes, I'm probably being unfair to him for that one - but he set the tone for so long, and the team did turn around dramatically when he was pushed aside and then jettisoned.

I really think last year was just a perfect storm of bad things happening and everything snowballing into an unrecoverable disaster.
