Yea, that looks like “6’1” next to 6’6 Owen Power. Luke Hughes is probably closer to 6’3 if Owen’s height is right.

The Devils blue line is good enough to not actually have a third pair by any meaningful definition. Their ice time is dispersed more than most teams because each player is capable of difficult/big minutes.

Dillon-Dougie’s not good playing meaningful minutes. We saw it to start this year when they had to be used as a top 4 pair. You can afford to be more evenly spread in the regular season but come playoff time that top 4 will need to be rode hard. There also is a very very clear 3rd pair and it’s Dillon-Dougie. Since Luke-Pesce came back it’s 14:31 a game for them at 5v5, 14:09 for Siegs-Kovy and 12:25 for Dillon-Dougie.

Your dougie hate boner remains pathetic as you ignore that they consistently find extra shifts for dougie away from dillon.

There's a top 5, and a clear number 6

Lmao
Power is 6’6””
Luke is 6’2”

Thank god you aren’t a teacher, kids would all fail.
You obviously skipped the Michigan photo. AI calculates Power being 2 inches taller than Luke based on math, so pick one.

I personally think he is close to 6’3 with a very long wing wingspan. Either way, there is zero chance he is 6’1 like the other poster mentioned.

2018: I like Dahlin a lot and I think he could be the best dman in the league if he wasn't in Buffalo. Hard to choose between him and Hughes. I think Dahlin still goes #1 but barely.

2019: Seider is an animal and at his best is the most dominant player on the ice but I think it's still gotta be Jack at #1.

2021: My pre-draft was Johnson at 1 and Luke at 2 and I still feel perfectly comfortable with that. That 2021 crop looks great.
This is where I’m at. Quinn has clearly had the better career so far but as someone who watches Dahlin every single night it is insane how special he is. It’s not a coincidence he was hurt for nearly the entire Sabres losing streak.

Canucks I’d say are my west team and man Quinn is so good himself. He is brilliant to watch.

If Dahls was moved I think he’d be stacking hardware, but Quinn already is. It’s tough for me.

I don’t think there’s a single argument for taking Dahlin now over Hughes for first overall with their body of work as presented, objectively. I get the emotional attachment to your team’s favorite player though.

Situation matters. Especially when in Buffalo. But ya you’re probably right it’s bias

I'm sure at least 5 out of the 32 GMs are picking Dahlin over Hughes. Probably more. It's more than the body of work, it's also the Buffalo situation and how damn good he looks even compared to the other elite players who got traded out before him. Oh and GMs love size. Personally I find it hard to choose between them because if anything, I've defended Hughes a few times as I am firmly in the Hughes camp when it comes to him vs Makar, and also he was the player I wanted to pick for the wings in 2018. If anything, my emotional attachment should be with Hughes, but I can objectively look at Dahlin's potential and the situation is in and "project" where their career might go from here if they were on different teams. But I am ready to admit that I might be underestimating Hughes as he also had to deal with a seemingly tough off ice situation with the Canucks and has turned it around. Dahlin hasn't been able to do that with Buffalo but after Eichel, ROR, Reinhart... I don't know if any player in the league could turn that loser culture around... it's beyond bleak at this point.

I love them both so I don't have that strong of an opinion either way, I just think it's a legit conversation to be had.

In that picture? Probably. Check his posture, my guy. Everyone else is straight-legged and he's spread to lower himself a bit.
He isn’t hunched over, spreading his feet that much might lower his height by a quarter of an inch, I just tested it.

Also, you have been using this website for 20 years, drop the “my guy” talk. You aren’t that guy and you aren’t that age.
