Phillips flashes his talent but he struggles with consistency

Not bad to have around guy with NHL experience for event that something happens to your NHL defenders in final months. His time in Chicago was coming to end as pending RFA and falling behind several other defenders in recent years

Vlasic, Kaiser, Allan and now Crevier has jumped him to NHL at this point and with Korchinski, Levshunov and Del Mastro in AHL he really didn't have great future there either as those guys are younger with higher upside likely to jump ahead of him to NHL as well (Korchinski should be up here now but we have Martinez and Brodie who our GM signed foolishly)

One of those doing favor for guy while getting something which in this case is younger signed thru next year LD for Hogs who knows Levshunov and can help him rest of year being there as friend and maybe D partner as Levshunov continues to adjust to AHL

Yeah it looks Chevy got a little more usable deep depth player in case the need should arise.
Yup, I think this will work out for both teams. We get a usable depth piece if injuries keep hitting, and Chicago moves a player that lost his spot anyway and bring in a fellow Belorussian to help their #2 overall pick acclimatize to North America.

Yeah a bit of a let’s help each other out trade between organizations that have a lot of past history with each other.

Just a depth move, trade from a position of strength to a position of need. Extra depth D man going into the playoffs is better then a far down the depth chart winger. Not a big move, but I like it
