WC: Division 1B 2025., Tallin 26.04 - 2.05.

Overall Spain looks way more outmatched this year than last. Do they miss someone ? Except O'Hare...

Croatia certainly seems like the better team so far but that's the usual when playing against China and caused the great China debate last year featuring @Albatros who is sadly MIA this year :(

They need goals to prove it or they will end up with nothing other than respect in the handshake like the Dutch team last year.

Case in point, China is up 1-0. Shots 12-4 Croatia.

Broken stick --> 4v5 --> goal down after dominating first period.

Why are sticks today so brittle?

Cavlovic could and should have reacted better on Chinese goal, but in every aspect and little detail of the game you can see the difference between those having hockey as their no1 job and those who are training twice a week and playing IHL. Sisak is on the move...again...I want to see Alić, Svjetličić, M.Idžan, Jurić (if he doesn't end up in college somewhere), Kašparek (why he is not on the roster now?), Završki to turn pro, because no alcohol can heal the pain caused by watching IHL-ers on this level.

Talking about this, Rosandinc broke 2 goalie sticks in the game against Korea. I have NEVER seen that happen. You hardly ever see a goalie stick break, not to mention 2 in the span of 5 minutes. You might have to start looking for some saboteurs on your team :sarcasm:

Yeah, Medveščak, Mladost and Zagreb players are having serious problems keeping up with this level of hockey.

Albeit, some of them are young and could develop in Sisak.

I hope Završki and Šimunković will play there next year. And by that, I mean regularly, not on a two-way contract with IHL club.

That was just our hidden tactic.

Against Spain we'll use Jofa and Sherwood wooden sticks and there will be no breaking.

I don't even know what to say anymore.

After all that effort to tie it in the last minute of the game, you can't keep it up for 30 seconds to go to the extra-time.

Yeah I may have been totally wrong about Spain. Expected more. Torralba got injured in the first game, but really that does not explain much. Goalie problems, bunch of stupid penalties and zero offense. Well they have the death matches still coming.

I see Lithuania doing a fine job playing spoilers to Estonia's party right now, shot-count shows 10-27 but I feel like the quality of chances have been much more even than that.

After all that it's a rather soft one to concede for the Lithuanians, Puzakov behind the net for Nevolainen and Estonia's 4th line gets them back in the game...

...but Lithuania hold out in the end. Estonia had no lack of energy but not really enough guile to break down Lithuania's defensive structure and in the end paid for it.

I didn't catch all of the game but although Lubys made 35 saves I can't remember anything especially heroic from him, just good all-round execution on D from Lithuania.

Well, international hockey has only a few unbreakable rules: Estonia never gets relegated at the junior level and always loses to us at men's. No factors or circumstances matter.

Estonia just couldn't make a coherent effort at the end for a final push which is a shame. But winning with just 13 shots is crazy, in future we will look back at the scoreline and think - yeah, of course Lithuania won haha.

I agree with the ones that say that Estonia could not generate that much more good oppoturnities. Shots might be slightly misleading. And did not even get that much momentum of the 4th line scoring.

Lubys really is earning himself a better contract. Atleast should get. Atleast according to eliteprospect he is shorter than Chen. That is hard to believe because he is playing much bigger.

I don´t follow Norwegian division at all, but I feel it has been important that he has actually got some games last few seasons. I did see him couple of times in Finnish juniors. I would be lying if I say that I did see him big prospect. But felt it was shame how his career progressed after that.

His U18 play was very strong, both in Finland and internationally. I remember arguing he is going to be a professional goalie and lobbying his case pretty hard circa 2018. But after that, at U20 level, he really struggled and even his international performances dipped in 19/20 season, he didn't progress at all. I don't know what happened there, maybe some mental health issues, although I'm purely speculating here. Most guys just quit hockey at that point but he stuck with it and who knows, maybe it is all for the best.

He needed something really eye-popping to change his career and so far he is having it, no matter who you are you have to be impressed with .97+ Sv%.

Estonia still has a chance to advance:

Lithuania beats Croatia
Estonia beats South Korea
South Korea beats Lithuania
Estonia beats China

Scoring enough goals will see Estonia win on goal difference, with all three teams on 12 points.

Point against LTU as solid morale boost before tomorrow's key game against Spain. Nikolić with 50 save performances.

I can totally see Croatia getting complacent and losing against Spain
Maybe. But Spain has been shadow of last year.

I just checked. None of the games last year Spain took more penalty minutes than the opponent. Which is pretty remarkable from underdog team. They hold Ukraine 1-1 after two periods without penalties.

This year very different story. I think they took 4 penalties in the first period against China now. Last one cost.

That wouldn't be the first time to see something like this happens when it comes to any Croatian NT or club.

Something is off with them, starting with goalie Barbo...
