Was able to watch Canada tears live over at my Dad's. He kept thinking the red jersey were the Capitals so had to tell him it is our evil Canada neighbor to the north.
Leonard has had an ok tourney here though still some games left. People do forget Kuzy's epic WJCs where THAT was a good tourney by a caps prospect.

That was the one as far as a guy establishing himself as the best player not in the NHL but Hutson and Mateiko are probably the best 2 performances of non 1sts, like how do you not take Hutson right now over Dickinson and Buium seeing them side by side (just like the previous Hutson and guys taken over him), so much draft surplus added in 8 days just with those 2

Beyond hilarious to consider who they left out of this team. Now Canadian fans are out there complaining about the refereeing even though everyone knows IIHF reffing and it's flaws. They left the offense home to bring in the grinders who were eventually the guys who sunk that team.

I’m enjoying Hockey Canada’s comeuppance as much as anyone but these are actual kids. Booing them and throwing jerseys is ridiculous.

Canada should have prioritized chemistry where they could. Rehkopf should have been playing with Martone, they run a dominant line in the OHL.
Should have added Barkey to pair with Cowan. Sennecke with Ritchie. And then have Misa and Parekh to boot. And sprinkle solid talent throughout like Cristall and Yakemchuk, maybe Hage and Greentree too.
I know Canada is rich with talent but I’d have no problem keeping about half of this squad home that they took over there. Easy to say now of course but the roster construction was criticized from the beginning.

The first piece I've read that actually names names. So many unforced errors. Little reason not to overhaul that group.

All the more reason why it's kind of troubling that there's a contingent of Canadian fans (not all, or even a majority I think) who believe that these kids should be free to cheap-shot other kids in the name of grit and sandpaper triumphing over skill, and the IIHF refs basically no, these are kids - it's kind of a good idea to have some safety boundaries, even if it's hockey.
I think the bulk of Canadian fans recognize the complete idiocy of leaving players with world-class skill home in a tournament with world-class teams, in favor of a bunch of third-liners who will finish their checks and not allow opponents to "admire their pass". It's just bizarre that with all the elite skilled players up there, the only 1 picked for the team, McKenna, was the youngest guy. Why would you not do more to showcase the skill that the country's kids have?
And Cameron is just a colossal, cyborgian moron. I'm not going to hold any team practices during the tournament and can't do anything about my players taking cheap-shots (when kids do stupid things, it's best not to hold them accountable, eh?), but I can make a fruitless challenge to an utterly and completely obvious goalie interference call against one of my dumb players late the in the 3rd period of a tight elimination game and put my team down a man. The mentality of the adults in charge of leading these kids was just staggeringly warped.

Also, doesn't the "I wouldn't make any changes" just sound like the dumbest thing possible, like not an ounce of self reflection, not a smidge of understanding what went wrong. Just plain and simple "I did everything right, even though none of it worked at all"
Reminds me of Norv Turner, who at 0-7 said "I know what we're doing works".

Yeah I agree. Booing kids (auto correct just tried to change it to "boning" lol) is poor conduct.
By all accounts, it's not even the players' faults. The adults made dumb decisions. This is on them.

I was hoping this was the year that the Caps prospects would restart the grand tradition of Caps prospects making Canadian fans furious at junior worlds. But wow did I underestimate how good a job they would do.
