this Mateiko lad strikes me as a guy who'd go without a single season with a PPG pace as a junior and make the NHL team straight out of camp ahead of some star prospects. He just knows where to be at the perfect moment and won't complain about playing 7-8 minutes a game in his first season.

I used MacKinnon as a stylistic comparison for Leonard earlier in the season and feel vindicated now that TSN made the same comparison.
Lenny with a physical shift. Got hit a couple times, mashed somebody else and then drew a double minor cause they wanted to get him back. He's total chaos in a great way, can't wait for him to get up to speed in the NHL. Announcer compared his desire to seek out contact on the offensive side of the game to Lindros and Forsberg earlier. Pretty high praise.

Damn I get it the dude is kinda good but lets pump the brakes for a bit. I'd take it as a win if he takes Mangiapane's job for starters, let's not mention the kinds of Lindros and Foppa with serious faces lol.

There's a large difference between comparing styles of play and the ability of the players.
Prospect comparisons would be useless if you're not allowed to use any good players whose styles are well-known.

I read and think, still sounds bogus when prospects get compared to legends like that. This happens every other year and it's always like 10-15% possibility the guy ends up anywhere near those he was compared to. Why not say he has the motor and an edge to his game like Parise or Mike Richards or Grabovski. Like make it at least beliveable if you go down the comparisons way.
Lenny with a second goal. Could have 4-5 tonight lol. Seems like USA has changed the PP, haven't seen him standing in front of the goalie once today.
Its a stylistic comparison, not a talent level comparison. Long term he has far greater upside than just replacing a 3rd liner.

I'm going to try and be simple with this: Leonard seeks out contact offensively the way those players did. That's all that was said. Doesn't speak to a single other trait or way those players played the game except this one thing.
Nobody's offended, but it's annoying to take this long to get you to understand a specific comparison.
Don't pretend you thought this was about style comparisons. You thought people were comparing Leonard to Lindros and Forsberg ability-wise. That's when you brought up Parise, Richards and Grabovski.
If you would have read what I posted, like someone suggested, I was quoting the announcers who mentioned it. Nobody here made the comparison in style or talent.
