He needs to be able to keep up with people in order to hit them. Trust me I want someone physical too. But not when they’re so bad at everything else. Because if that was the case the Kings might as well kept MacDermid who actually killed people.

He needs to be a 7th dman

This is all contingent on his leg, really. He was excellent before his femur exploded.

And why would anyone want a man that old with a broken femur back? You don’t really heal from that especially at his age.

He's dirt cheap, beloved, physical, is already comfortable and good in the system, and one of our best PKers, freeing up the others offensive talents. For a depth veteran signing it's excellent to have him. easy to jettison/bury if he can't hack it.

Depends entirely on the type of break. He definitely came back earlier than he would have done without the other injuries. That was confirmed. So I don’t think we will really know where he’s at until game 1. You may well be right.

You know that’s not going to happen. He’s going to play every game. Todd is very gracious with vets. I don’t want edler back because I know he will be playing whether he’s doing good or bad. He’s going to take a spot that an important dman can take.

lol Alex Edler gonna play 82 games this season
This is what I’m worried about. I like him as a presence but I don’t want the guy who was by far the worst dman against the oilers. The kings should employ players with the Oilers in mind because that’s the team the Kings will need to pass one way or another in the playoffs.

Maatta again was infinitely better than Edler. I don’t care if Edler was injured. He shouldn’t have played. And the fact he did play too early shows that Todd loves vets to a fault.

What concerns do you share in regards to the team? It’d be nice to know what concerns you have in regards to the team, players, and/or coaching. Let’s hear that side for a change.

Maatta is a different role altogether and comparatively got a suitcase full of cash, that's not a good comparable imo

I gotta say you provide an absolute INVALUABLE tool.....the Kings should hire you......in this role, you give them your take on a player.....so they can absolutely do a 180 the other way....that way....they are always in the best position in regard to that player....

He wouldn’t dare.
Which is a pretty unfair take, if it’s not overly subtle sarcasm.

He engages well with us on here and provides a valuable perspective. Most of us wouldn’t publicly criticise our employers, because firstly it’s unprofessional. Given the context I think Jesse is pretty balanced and if you listen to his pod does raise concerns and areas to focus on but he does it in a subtle, constructive way.

Love the Fiala signing. Younger guy that brings the offensive punch we really need. May be the closest thing to Palffy we have seen in decades. Traded from a position of strength.

Elder’s contract is a steal and laid out in a way not to hurt the team if he does regress.

Liked bringing back Tynan for the AHL but shedding some of the other vets.

Hillier an important add. Hope that improves the PP and keeps Todd’s fingers out of it.

Anderson contract a steal. Gives Blake a year and extra money next year to get an extension done.

Lemieux brought back at reduced price. Still fills a need.

I still feel the need to clean up the left side Defence. Defence core is very small and similar. Still want a true #2 guy to pair with Doughty that provides more offense then Miley and allowing Mikey to move down the chain and anchor an offensive guy like Clarke, Durzi or Walker.

I think the team is demonstrably better on paper now than they were a year ago. So in that regard Blake did fantastic. If I felt more confident in some of the forward prospects, I would say the Kings are dark horse contenders to win the division.

It’s going to be an interesting year all around. A couple players had career years in 21/22 they likely won’t replicate. But that regression can easily be offset (and surpassed) by prospect maturation.

It will be a fun see-saw to watch throughout the year.

Nate Thompson makes negative sense to me and ya'all know how f***ed up that I already am.

I love the Fiala acquisition and signing. I think Blake did an A++ job resigning everyone.

The only possible sense this makes is Nate putting some pressure on the young guys to try any harder.
I hope to G-d that he doesn't make the team like Hunter and The Island of Dr Moreau did in 2012
