Lias was ABSOLUTELY traded to be a tweener........he was a DEPTH add who had good upside...but wasn't going to be a team killer.....if the upside panned out...he would have played more.

Spence has holes he needs to iron out, he does that in the AHL....pretty simple...

You have no idea if Clarke would be in the NHL if anything, and if you are 100% positive, quick what are the powerball numbers?

Bjornfoot started 5/6 and finished 7th.....ok great, who is above him, let's go through it, Doughty, Roy, Andersson.....Durzi? Needs work, Edler? Not for a full year, Walker? No idea how he comes back from injury.....did I miss anyone?

Lias won a spot out of camp with Tkachev and played opening night. Todd disagrees with you.

Todd liked Spence over Edler in an elimination game. Once again, you’re talking out your ass.

Only uneducated people play the lottery. Must be something you grew up with.

6 guys were better than Bjornfot when the season was on the line. You must be stalking him if something has improved that know one else knows about. Or you’re just talking out your ass.

Coach played Spence in game 7, Edler was a healthy scratch. Todd thinks you’re wrong.
And you are wrong...Spence played games 1-3 and was scratched after that....Todd thinks YOU are wrong.

Todd liked Spence over Edler in an elimination game. Once again, you’re talking out your ass.

Considering you are talking out of your ass and have been proven wrong, again, and again, and again....

I think we can end this here......

Yeah, no way did the Kings trade a 2nd for someone they expected to be an AHL/NHL tweener. They took a calculated risk on a former high pick who’s original team had seen enough and moved on from him and it has just simply not worked out.

Btw, the Kings could have done something similar and gotten out in front of their depth issues and made a similar deal that the Rangers did and gotten a 2nd for either Vilardi or JAD last summer. That was not good asset management.

As far as Toby, I think he is a floor guy but nothing the last two years shows he will be anything more than a 4-6 defenseman, which isn’t terrible but maybe not what you hoped from a guy who made your team out of camp at 18 and was a regular at 19. I think Toby was one of those guys who may have peaked earlier than most players. But a 3rd pairing defender from a later 1st is not disastrous but a bit disappointing based on early results.

Did they expect him to be an AHL/NHL tweener, of course not.......again it was a DEPTH trade with potential for more, if his upside panned out......if anyone things that LA stole him for a 2nd expecting him to be a top six, is just freaking delusional.....

Feel free to hit that ignore button.

There is a good chance Edler is 7th D rotating in when his edge is needed. He’s ideal for that, beer than sitting a prospect.
Yea I think they had mentioned Edler is not going to play every game. It was said he was helpful to the young players and maybe the veterans also like having him in the room.
If anything he is taking Moverares place and not Bjornfot.
Stoll mentioned Bjornfot is expected to play 82 games this year.

I think the plan is to send Spence to Ontario to be the 1D and Clarke down to the OHL again unless they force their way onto the roster. As it stands, this is a pretty good defense:

Anderson - Doughty
Walker - Roy
Bjornfot - Durzi
Edler

A+ grade.

Getting Fiala for a 1st (in what looks to be a mediocre draft) and our second/third best defence prospect is great. Having him sign with us for that length is confidence of the player in us.

Our signings did not blow the bank at all. If anything, they are all underpaid a tad for what they give.

Didn’t bring back trash AA. Brought in a new coach and sent down Sturm to see if he can work magic with our tampered prospects in the AHL.

Quick contact ends next year and gives us more room to give Anderson a better contract. A few Lombardi deals get reduced.

I do hope he could have found a suitor for Walker/iafallo, but maybe that comes up later in the season.

If there’s anything to be concerned was the draft this year. Looked like our prospects selected weren’t that great. Time will tell on that, but no sexy picks for us it seems.
Take a second look how Iaffallo played in the series against Edmoantown. Convinced me he is a keeper.

Wasn't sure if you were sarcastic or not there at first, but will say you are being serious.

He belongs more on the third line, absolutely! If we could have a Iafallo/Byfield/Kaliyev, it might be enough defense muster for Tod Mc to give more ice time. Not sure what happened to him last year during the regular season but we have the cap for him and should be good depth for the season.

Iafallo could have been a good throw in for the grand prize player. Clearing up cap space and is serviceable depth. We got a very good prize for a lot less of a price.

I am very happy with how it worked out. Are you?

On what basis do you think that’s the plan? Genuine question, because I’ve seen no one say anything other than he’s NHL ready with nothing to prove in the OHL. I can’t cite specific sources though. I think he gets some games in before they decide.

Seems reasonable.

Yup. I think he knows that if he wants to stay on the west coast AND play for a competitive team that this is his role now. Hell, it sounds pretty awesome to me. He gets all the perks of being an NHLer with load management to boot. We're also bound to have injuries, so we'll likely see three guys in the #5-7 spots get around 50 games each rather than 6 get 82 each.

Edler is also about the only functional physical size we have on defense. The Kings have like 6 5'10/5'11 guys that are more or less the same flavor. I never felt that signing was in doubt unless he retired. Well liked mentor, physical, high upside.

He needs to be able to keep up with people in order to hit them. Trust me I want someone physical too. But not when they’re so bad at everything else. Because if that was the case the Kings might as well kept MacDermid who actually killed people.

He needs to be a 7th dman

Indeed

Edler is depth at this point

Alexander Depthler

Like the Fiala addition. Kings offensive depth should be decent next season. Would have liked a 3C, but understand Blake wanting to wait & see if any of the 500 center prospects decide to take the spot. A few spots need improvement. Without dumping cap only so much to be done right now.

Edit: More excited than this post sounds. Coffee levels must be dropping.
