There were some exciting games but definitely means less considering it wasn’t best on best.

The gold medal game had some thrilling moments.

The answer is: YES. The only Sochi game that rivals this one is Russia vs. USA.

No doubt the level of the tournament was lower even than WHC. This attendance and atmosphere - The Disgrace! to say the least! But it still had some exciting moments (thanks to the Germans, I really enjoyed watching them) and a good final game.
Great Cinderella story, some sweet moments (Datsyuk e.g), a handful of good games. And that's all: you can enjoy, but you can't be satisfied (unless you're German or some sort of a Russian redneck)

I know I am in the minority, but I enjoyed it more than previous years. I can see NHL players every night in the NHL.

I'll caveat by saying that I like to think I am more than just a NHL fan but a devoted hockey fan. I will watch any type of hockey regardless of skillset, just because it is hockey.

With that said, I didn't watch more than Game 2 of USA v. Slovakia. That has a lot more to do with the fact that ROK is basically 15 hours ahead of me. That meant I had to watch replay games unless I planned on staying up at 2-3am just to watch it. By the time I got up every newspaper/sports source out there had already said who won, so what was the point? At least with Sochi I was up at 5am watching those games and they were on at a much easier time to watch. I also really had no desire to watch OAR effectively walk away with gold all things considered. Granted they did lose their first game and Germany cut it close, the rest were not nearly as rewarding.

I did watch most of the USA women's games against Canada though. At least those were mildly entertaining.

Canada hates losing but what they hate even more is watching Russia win. I think NHL will participate in next Olympics

Why this idea keeps popping up? You're not going to find a lot of true amateurs outside of hobbyist / beer league level. If hockey is the only thing you do and you get paid to do it, then you can't be an amateur.

Well the college kids and maybe juniors? For me I wasn't entertained watching some players past their primes play.

The handful of minutes I watched was sloppy hockey, so I didn't bother. The players involved made this tournament even less relevant to me that the yearly WHC.

No, it was complete GARBAGE.

It's a good thing the games weren't on as the same time as NHL games because I don't see why anybody would watch inept crap hockey.

I really didn't enjoy it that much.
The quality of hockey just wasn't what it should be for such an event.

Something I just realized is that it seems Canada needs to have its own officials in order to win it but I'm sure that's just coincidence.

I know you don't like facts but Canada wins the WJHC and WHC all the time without their own officials.

Could have been better. Too many hasbeens. The kids were the best players on a lot f teams.
