Did the Rangers ever have a mascot? What do you think would be a good concept for one?

Bring back Bobby Granger.

EDIT: This one was my favorite.

Remember when the actor came back in the early 2010s before a playoff game? I can't find it on YouTube. But they asked him what he's been up to and he said something like "they might have sent me to Hartford".

I don't think I've seen that but the guy seems pretty cool, he posts regularly on Reddit and has some cool stories. Seems like he had a great time doing the bits back then.

Didn't get get shitfaced and kicked out of MSG during one of those games ? lol

Speaking of Larry, my memories, from when it began(pre-Cup early '90's maybe/i guess), was a different guy who would dance up there, too, I remember him first, then Larry behind him maybe? - solid built guy w light hair, glasses maybe, camo pants
Anyone else recall that?

George Lake, aka my Dad's primary season ticket partner for the better part of the last few decades. Doesn't go to the games as much these days, and hasn't danced since him and Larry had a dance-off back in the mid-90s. When I was a kid, it was Dancin' George, not Larry. But Larry is a more personable guy and George constantly wants to trade the entire team LMAO. Good dude, though.

Hopefully Ryan Strome resigns as the mascot, that way Panarin is happy and we’re happy.

It’s a win win

Had a few Mascot questions on the season ticket holder survey i got this morning. Wonder if the organization is up to something.

Didn't they have that gorilla puppet in the 90's and pregame they'd have a video on the jumbotron of the gorilla wearing a Rangers jersey beating up the 'mascot' of the other team wearing the opposing jersey? I have a vague memory of this.

Is this different from years past? What were the questions?
I've gotten two different surveys this summer. One was about the overall value of the tickets and I use them for, and today's which pretty much MSG experience centric. This one had the mascot question, questions about the DJ series they did, and other crap like the t-shirt toss.

a hedgehog in the likeness of dolan or just let a golden retriever wander around the barn all game cause theyre awesome

also i can picture them coming up with something painful using the jungle as rationale for the animal chosen

They did. I remember the stupid thing locking an islanders fan out of MSG back in the early 2000s

Sat next to the Chief one night in the Greens. He wasn't in his seat very much, too busy circling the concourse doing his war chant.

Another night I saw an Islander fan punch the Chief in the face. He was bloodied but his spirit wasn't broken.

My condolences. They might be good dudes, but that dancing shit was/is so cringe. As is the Potvin whistle at this point.
"..is so cringe"? Huh, what does that mean?

The Potvin whistle is one of the few things left from the old days, let it last forever.

Okay I was starting to worry I had manifested another fake memory.
We've got the answer to the thread. We had a gorilla mascot for a few years.

I can't recall the last time she did her thing but it feels like it was in 11-12
Yeah, haven't seen her in a long-time. Someone this season asked me if I knew what happened to her. I dont know her, so no idea.

Some have to remember Ari, no? Orthodox Jewish guy, used to take the train in from the Long Beach line. Big guy, easily 6'2"-6'3". Wont repeat a name people in my section had for him. Haven't seen him in years, probably since before the upper bowl was renovated.

I remember that also. They would have a teddy bear with the opponent's jersey, then this gorilla with a Rangers jersey would follow him and deck him.

Don't care for mascots and don't want one for the Rangers but let's get off that high horse and pretend it's "not classy" or whatever other bullshit.

Mascots are geared towards kids and there is nothing better than have kids make memorable moments at a game. For some these moments include having pictures taken with mascots, statues, photographs on the walls of the stadium etc., etc.

Not sure what sort of mascot would be good for the Rangers or if they ever get one but a mascot will never have any influence on my fandom.
If you are over 12 chances are you are not the target group, why get worked up over it?

Well, one of the reasons I'm vehemently opposed to mascots is because when they do things while the puck is in play, they divert eyes from the ice, which could lead to someone taking a puck in the head, especially a child.
