He's almost certainly in. He's got a lot of the things the selection committee like: longevity, international success, awards etc.
Fair enough I jsut think there are better players not in the Hall who have equal or as good of a case but the HHOF isn't that hard to enter as winger it seems unless your name is Patrick Elias or Theo Fleury (I get why he isn't in).Yes I think he gets in right away. 500 goals and 1000 points would make it more obvious, but they will like that he won pretty much everything and for a hall of fame, Perry has been fairly prominent (famous) for a long time and memorable as one of the most prominent rat types ever. He's still very relevant now at 40 and whenever he is discussed for years now it's pretty glowing praise. His relatively fluky Hart helps a lot too. It's the hall of fame, not some legitimate ranking of the best X number of players ever.
I can't see any way he is left out, and given that he will likely be finishing his career (or close enough) playing relevant hockey on good teams, memories will be fresh for the committee and he likely gets in early on.
isn't he part of the triple gold club? he was def getting in before the last 6 years
I get what you're saying with Elias but Perry feels more "famous" and has an easier hook with the variety of things he won, plus he has been featured prominently a lot in his late 30s in a way that Elias wasn't. For what it's worth Elias should get in too, and I expect that he will sometime.Fair enough I jsut think there are better players not in the Hall who have equal or as good of a case but the HHOF isn't that hard to enter as winger it seems unless your name is Patrick Elias or Theo Fleury (I get why he isn't int).
Sure I get the "more famous part" and like I said the bar for wingers is actually quite low so there is that.I get what you're saying with Elias but Perry feels more "famous" and has an easier hook with the variety of things he won, plus he has been featured prominently a lot in his late 30s in a way that Elias wasn't. Yes that's true but I'm not talking about it adding to his career much, just getting into the hhof. Trottier and Fetisov were easy adds anyway (Fetisov waiting a bit more for obvious reasons). Making all of these finals runs has kept Perry in the collective hockey consciousness for longer than you would think given his play.Sure I get the "more famous part" and like I said the bar for wingers is actually quite low so there is that.
I just don't really care either way and I think his last 6 seasons are somewhat nostalgic and over hyped with the playoff thing but that's me I think the same thing when people bring up Trottier's contributions to the Pens SC years and the importance of Fetisov to Detroit as way more narrative than actual reality.
No. It hasn’t.A very solid career overall, but I think most would argue he is borderline HHOF, likely missing the cut. Ignoring if he wins/loses this year, did the last 6 years of 6 SCF's push him over the line?
1 Cup
1 Hart
1 Rocket
2 PPG+ seasons out of 21
1392 GP as of this season
Will finish just shy of 1k points
By that logic Perry is disqualified. It is the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Vital Statistics. Perry makes it in with room to spare.
