Did the last 6 years get Corey Perry into the HHOF

The people who actually vote guys into the HHOF put very high emphasis on both these awards.
Roughly 30 guys born in the 1980s will get in. I strongly doubt voters will leave out one of 5 Hart Trophy winners, who has had the playoff career he did.
Taylor Hall will probably go down as the only post war forward to win the Hart and not get in.
Which makes the HHOF quite meaningless.
Sorry, when the same Hall holds Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Howe and Yzerman, Perreault, Bossy, Lafleur ....as well as Oates, Langway, Shanghai, Lindros.....
It's pretty much meaningless to be a member in it

Okay? So what? Why does every other HoF thread need to be derailed by the same points over and over.
The topic is, did this late stage in Perry's career solidify his questionable case. I think it's a lock now he will get in. Has the Hart, early cup, triple gold, and now longevity+this cup final games boost, with now the latest goal to tie a cup final game to go into OT. Yeah his resume is fit for the HHOF voters despite the small peak.
What value or what you think the hhof criteria should be is not the discussion. You've had this in multiple topics and many hof threads have other people talking in the same way. I don't get how hard it is to separate ourselves from the voters. I'm not going to be a voter. You won't be a voter. What we can do is evaluate the trends of voters and predict if things will happen or not. We can evaluate what they care about. So one might think individual awards and success matter only, thats not how the hhof voters think, we know this and have zero reason to expect that will change.
You can say he wouldn't make the standard you want, sure, but that doesnt change that he will make it in.
Why? Those are better players

If Corey Perry becomes a 1st ballot HOFer, then it's time to shut it down.
He's basically Zach Parise who played on some better teams and hung around longer. He's on the same level as guys like Jeff Carter, Marian Gaborik, Vinny Lecavalier, Patrik Elias, etc. You can say he has a higher peak since he got a Hart, but looking at his career as a whole he's very comparable to those guys.
Will he and some of those guys get in eventually? Probably. To say he's a first ballot is crazy to me.

Thing is, I would be OK with that. Like I said the Halls standards are much lower now than they used to be (unless you’re a goalie) so it is what it is. It’s not really for the elite best-of-the-best anymore it’s more of a Hall of Really Good Players. To each their own. If goalies had the same low standards as skaters do now guys like Chris Osgood, Curtis Joseph, Mike Vernon, Mike Richter, and Andy Moog would be in already. If skaters were held to the same standards the guys you listed wouldn’t have a shot.

He shouldn't, but he will eventually. Always loved his game - excellent player and still very effective at 40.

I'd be surprised if he is not in, and it doesn't really have to do with the last 5 years.
He's won the two of the biggest individual trophies, and he's won the biggest team trophy.
But I think the ultimate compliment for how he was valued in hockey circles is that he was called upon in 2010 and 2014 to play on the international roster that was the toughest to crack, and he won there too.

I mean you said it so I'd say that you believe it but like I mentioned upthread when he retires there almost certainly will be 5 or 6 better resumes and players up for induction into the HHOF IMO.
But then again it's not like the HHOF has an open ballot where people can see the committees mindset and even who they are thinking about.
He seems very Hall of very good but not good enough to me in his prime and even peak.

I know Perry said he will keep playing, but what if Edmonton wins and he retires, who would be new to the voting with him. Fleury is the only guy I can think of retiring, maybe Jagr will finally stop playing for his team? Who is holding him back or next year who would also retire?
The borderline cases aren't piling up, if anything they're lessening. I know many are still wanting Moginly.
We can't see what the hhof voters vote, but that's why trends and patterns are what you follow and judge. Its simple to analyze the data we do have. Even when things change, like then adding 2 goalies who weren't in for a decade. Who did they add? Vernon and Barrasso who had peak years but importantly to voters, 2 cups. They didnt choose who some leaf fans think should be in, Curtis Jospeh, who had multiple great years but didnt win. They choose "winners" because it's what they clearly value.
Its clear based on past claims that international success matters too.

Yes I think he gets in right away. 500 goals and 1000 points would make it more obvious, but they will like that he won pretty much everything and for a hall of fame, Perry has been fairly prominent (famous) for a long time and memorable as one of the most prominent rat types ever. He's still very relevant now at 40 and whenever he is discussed for years now it's pretty glowing praise. His relatively fluky Hart helps a lot too. It's the hall of fame, not some legitimate ranking of the best X number of players ever.
I can't see any way he is left out, and given that he will likely be finishing his career (or close enough) playing relevant hockey on good teams, memories will be fresh for the committee and he likely gets in early on.

They have lower peaks.
Toews is the only player out of the three with individual hardware and a Selke ain't much to brag about...CS is nice but below a Hart and rocket.
If you wanna use just raw numbers against Perry it isn't like Toews is that great, unlikely he even gets to 400 goals or 900 points.
Getzlaf was Perry's longtime teammate, very solid player, decent bit under a PPG, just one cup.
Tavares is interesting, he will finish his career around close to 600 goals and 1300ish points or more but he has as of now zero NHL team success and international not that great didn't score a single point in the 2014 Olympics before getting hurt.
Don't get me wrong I think every player will make it, I just don't get the Perry being a weak argument with how the hall is these days
