A very solid career overall, but I think most would argue he is borderline HHOF, likely missing the cut. Ignoring if he wins/loses this year, did the last 6 years of 6 SCF's push him over the line?

1 Cup
1 Hart
1 Rocket
2 PPG+ seasons out of 21
1392 GP as of this season
Will finish just shy of 1k points

Only reason people were doubting him was the controversy that happened in Chicago. Nobody gives a shit anymore so he's easily in.

I can think of several players who shouldn't be in the hall, based on resumes a lot worse than Perry's. I think Perry gets in eventually.

I doubt it but who knows.

The thing is that probably every year when he retires there will be 4,5 or 6 guys with better overall resumes.

the late career surge in playing games as mostly a role player is great but does that really add that much to moving the needle for Perry?

I think not.

Not sure where you are coming from this, like in 2016-2020 people were seeing him as a questionable HOF case and talking about him having too short of a peak. The Chicago signing was well after he already was reinventing his rep and locked himself as in. That did nothing to change the debate, I've not seen anyone since then ever think he wasn't for sure going in again.

It is the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Vital Statistics. Perry makes it in with room to spare.

Hmm I think Perry had a very short peak where he was an elite player and if anything the back half of his career has played him out of the hall of fame

The HOF induction committee doesn't think that way. They love career length and career totals.

Andreychuk was a ~20 goal/~40 point guy his last several years, and he wouldn't have gotten in without those years.

Marleau will be inducted based on games played alone.

If Perry wins the Cup this year, I think he gets in.

You're right that he wasn't an elite player that long, but his career looks great on paper and the romantic ending of finally winning another Cup after coming up short a few times will be a tempting narrative for voters.

He would have gotten in before, but his run of finals appearances makes it more likely he gets in the first time he is up.

Also bringing up the iihf's pathetic "triple gold club"... no chance the hall of fame old timers on the committee care in the least.

I don't think Perry is going to hit 1000 points unless he plays until he's 42

Hall of Fame standards are pretty low so he probably gets in. The fact that he won’t even get to 1000 points is pretty telling to how outside of his short peak he wasn’t anything special.

If you keep Perry out you have to keep others out from this past generation, Getzlaf, Toews, Tavares etc.

Perry is absolutely getting in

The Hall of Fame has really watered down its entries, so yes. He likely gets in

Team award
Meaningless since it's voted on
An actual accomplishment
Underwhelming
GP aren't a metric of HHOF
Not all that headline grabbing nevermind HHOF stuff
