Did DeBoer just fire himself with the Oettinger fiasco?

It's Torts time in Dallas.

Getting owned against the back to back WCF champs when nobody else in the West would compete with either isn’t that bad.
Impossible to say how well teams match against each other. Not that crazy to think Avalanche or Jets could have beaten Oilers.

Dallas did well, but that's not enough. I think DeBoer has proven his system can't beat the Oilers for 2 years in a row now. Time for a change. Maybe they need follow Vegas and wait until Cassidy is fired, replace DeBoer and win the Cup.

DeBoer sucks. Sixth Conference final loss in a row, with three different Orgs. Players gotta go out and play the game, but you can't tell me his coaching sets them up for success.

Every time he gets near the end of the Dance he gets outcoached. No adjustments, whining to the media every game, called a timeout and looked mostly limp trying to pump his team up. He's the common denominator for teams choking, Vegas fired him and then beat him the next year on the way to their Cup...lmao

Maybe he should go coach the Canes, seems like their conference finals futility is equally matched.
But by the same token, isn’t he undefeated in game 7’s?

This isn't even taking account it's the 6th straight conference final DeBoer has lost as a coach too.
So he is actually a good coach. Has any other made more than 3 during that time?
No, I think DeBoer gets fired early next season. But wouldn't be surprised if he was fired soon.

Probably gets a job quickly though.
As he should. If you constantly getting your team to the top 4 teams left, it's not just about coaching mistakes in the end. Its the players as well and the fact that you are playing good opponents.

Dallas got match-ups that suited them through two rounds and then couldn't do anything against a different style of team.

Not that crazy to think L.A or Vegas beats them in five too.

It seems to me that DeBoer just doesn't make any adjustments. Ever.

Last year against Edmonton, I understood it because, really, it was working. It was a very close six game series and they seriously outplayed the Oilers in the final game.

But this year? It wasn't that close but he didn't really change anything. Same lines, mostly the matchups Knoblauch wanted... last night even, at home and in an elimination game, DeBoer still didn't seem to make much of an effort to get the Rantanen line away from Bouchard, despite them not having an answer for Bouchard retrieving the puck and zipping an outlet pass up to a forward over and over again.

Just weird.

I don't believe DeBoer is a good coach at all and seems like one of those guys who will burn bridges wherever he goes. But coaching in the NHL is a carousel so I'm sure he'll land elsewhere in no time.

He should be out regardless of his comments, he stinks. Great regular season coach but year after year he can't get a team over the hump in the playoffs. Same old story and judging by his comments he hasn't learned anything after all these years of losing the big one.
