Sound like he was hoping to catch on with their AHL team, more realistically.
I would not like if they sign him for AHL deal not to judge anyone but reason would say he hanging out with Kings young players.

They'll have plenty of vets on Ontario, and if Setoguchi were there, and he was a bad influence, it would be easy to just let him go.

If he turned his life around, then he would be one of the best guys in the room to keep the young players on the straight and narrow.

Can't imagine this organization, with its recent history, hasn't considered that angle. If anything, with the structures they now have in place and given those recent events, now would be the best time to supplement that character with action.

It's worth considering who you put in your locker room. I'm not dismissing Devon out of hand, but there's a difference between a Jeff Schultz shaping the culture and a player with the issues Setoguchi has been struggling with.
It's been tried. Crumpet Island was way worse than Dry Island, believe it or not. I've seen footage of an unnamed player getting pissed at another over character issues and firing a scone at his head at 80mph.

I have seen him play live twice in the preseason. He is an NHL player, and should make this roster. With Gaborik out, it's not like we have an abundance of offensive forward talent. Hard shot, good skater and passer. The only question is his defense at times.
