Agree. I would be very surprised if the Devils pick played in the NHL this year. The Devils have plenty of young F's looking for time this year and they will likely add one from outside the org as well.

A good goalie gets us to 85 points at least IMO. Honestly I tend to think a bit higher but it depends obviously.

PP adds some more points so I think better assistants and goalies get us over 90 points.

So question is how do we get over 95 and into the playoff picture properly?

I 100% agree, but MTL probably has Wright as their BPA. I'd bet A LOT we're getting wither Slafkovsky or Jiricek, I'd be thrilled with both.

What do you do with Severson then?

I don’t see the issue. Tampa won back to back Cups with their LD being Hedman, McDonagh, Sergachev. You at least keep Severson through Jiricek’s ELC and if you can’t afford both after then you move on from Severson

Replacing Zacha with someone who can score at a consistent high rate is certainly also a big need

I think the Devils would be wise to take one of Cooley, Slafkovsky, or Kemell. Their defense seems set for a while with Luke Hughes coming up, along with Siegenthaler Hamilton and Severson

Jiricek or Nemec would still be great pickups if they went that route, though
