We know how this is going.....enough of the excuses...Bratt and Nico were god awful......Jack Hughes hid a lot.

There it is.

And before the usuals come....these 2 shouldn't be absolved of anything.
No way to respond without running afoul of the Mods.

Nothing about this post is accurate.

That would be like saying Kaprizov was God awful because he didn't score.

Both teams neutralized each other's top players.

Was basically an even game.

Does it really matter if we finish in 3rd and not 2nd? Other than we won't have home ice?

It does suck that the Rangers just don't lose though, especially with how incredible our record is over the last 5-6 weeks. We haven't a whole lot of ground on them because they don't lose much either.

All we can really do is just beat these teams when we play them and take points from them, which we've absolutely done with the Rangers 5 points to 3 this year.

Couldn’t care less about where we end up. Playoffs were always the goal.

Anyways, I highly doubt we don’t end in 2nd anyways.

I'd kinda rather them start at home anyway in a series where home-ice is probably going to mean little regardless. But half-kiddingly I said in the OOT thread they might just pass Carolina while they're at it anyway

Just go out there and kick the ever loving shit out of the Columbus shit bags and Johnny Air Hockey and the FAKE Finnish Ovechkin and the rest of their dumb idiot staff and sorry ass organization.

I'm loving the season they're having. It's like rooting on your most hated character in a TV show/movie to get absolutely mutilated and have no sympathy for them whatsoever.

Until they get Bedard......

One of my favorite wins this year might have been the touchdown we put up on Columbus.

I just wanna torture them on Tuesday.

And I f***in hate their fans too, who are probably over here spying on me slandering the shit out of their sorry ass organization right now.

I'm surprised they don't have a ''SWEPT PRESIDENTS TROPHY WINNERS 2019'' banner in their sorry barren rafters next to Rick Nash's number. And just for a little more space a separate ''SWEPT MOST WINNINGEST TEAM OF ALL TIME 2019'' banner. And one day they can also add ''SIGNED BIG NAME DUMBASS FREE AGENT 2022'' banner to their extremely short list of accomplishments.

Come on @njdevils1982 you know you'd love to see it too.

I would like to still win the division and get (likely) Pittsburgh. On that front tonight wasn’t bad overall.

Yeah, second or third don't mean much to me, but first would be sweet.

Funny enough, this is how reactionary sports fans are. After the Pens got 59 shots on goal last night and mutilated the Anaheim Ducks, someone made a ''Does anybody think Pittsburgh can give Boston a fit in the first round?'' thread.

The Kings go up 2-0 on the Pens as I'm typing that.

Offensively, he's disappointed me the most. Thought we would see him shoot for 30 this year, not struggle to get 20.

Since he doesn’t play on PP, expecting 30 goals is asking for too much. He also gets moved around this line-up an insane amount.

That said, I haven’t liked his game lately. More because his passes are sometimes very bad ideas.

Then again we play a system where forwards go all over the place depending on where the puck is.

Line bingo sometimes makes it hard for them to know what other players will do.

I think I liked some of the line changes today but I’m too tired to process it.

Haula shooting the puck directly at the goalie’s chest and then looking up at the sky, like Dominik Hasek circa 1997 made the Save of the Year on him, is getting old.

Toronto lost 4-3 to the Blue Jackets in regulation.

If that happened to us I can only begin to imagine the mass hysteria that would break out on this board, good lord.

So much “Fire Ruff” vitriol lol. Endless claims that it’s unacceptable and “this sort of thing just shouldn’t happen”.

It just happened to the Leafs.

Bratt cannot be paid more than Jack. He just can't. It doesn't matter that Jack is the best contract in the league.

We can't have $15M+ between him and Nico not producing when we need it most. And not even just not producing, but hardly driving the play and presenting as threats.

I fear what we are seeing if what is going to happen in the playoffs when teams double up and try their best to shut Jack down. Two guys, who should be producing, doing jack (pun intended) shit.

Yes he can. Jack's contract is too cheap, he should be making $10 million, but he signed for much less.

Well, it'll probably be Blackwood (starting him against the Blue Jackets always made sense), so I'll write it off as that.

You can count me down for a ''CALL UP SCHMID!'' in that event.

It does look like the Leafs had their random third or fourth string guy in net for that one, but outshot 40-29 by them? OUCH!

Some people also don't take into account that Bratt is gonna have more UFA years eaten up in his next contract, while Jack has 4 UFA years on his deal? I have a headache and can't figure it out right now, Maybe it's only 3 UFA years for Jack? Since he started playing in the NHL at 18, he probably could have become a UFA at 25, like Bratt coming in at 19 is UFA eligible at 26, rather than the traditional 27.

I agree with you that nights like tonight happen over the course of a season. With that said, I want no part of being compared to the Leafs. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard than that loser organization and I think its ok for folks to be annoyed at a night like tonight. At the end of the day as others have posted, Playoff bubble was always the goal. We should easily reach that and once we get into the dance who knows what can happen but the experience for this young core will be gold.

I swear when some people learn Timo Meier is a mere mortal with flaws, won’t they be surprised.

Don’t get me wrong, at this point I will be a mixture of annoyed and disappointed if we don’t get him (and I don’t normally get this invested).

But this Goofus and Gallant narrative people have with Bratt vs Meier is just bizarre.

Some people live for defending other teams and their players I guess. Boo hiss our top players for not scoring every game.
