Tell me when you've seen Mac kinnon take an undisciplined unsportsmanlike penalty? I've watched him since he was a kid, never saw it.

I was just using him as a point comparison for position. In no world would I bench Nathan and I haven't seen him take a bad penalty. If he did, I don't think he would be scratched and rightfully so.

I said before I don't think this is just about the penalty, but about a pattern of behavior where he becomes a distraction and can't keep his temper under control and his mouth shut. I would 100% not be surprised if the twitter stuff played a role in this because it probably already got the coaches irritated at him and now he's mouthing off to the refs and beyond that we don't even know what he might have said or how he reacted to the coaches benching him etc.

They know he's an exceedingly talented player and a benefit to the team, they aren't ignorant of his scoring last season, and they've said he'll be back in the lineup very soon.

I would argue scratching him creates more of a distraction than not scratching him. Just look at all the talk on here, Twitter, and in the media the last few days because of it. None of that would have occurred if he wasn’t scratched for a game.

Honestly If his Twitter is a reason then that’s not fair. He is allowed to have his beliefs. I can understand his temper being an issue but I thought that has gotten better over the last couple years. Bottom line is that he is an important player as we saw last year

Would you bench Lafreniere if it meant the same? We win 8 in a row.
Hysterical and kinda hyperbolic that this is even a question.

But, yes. Missing two-ish weeks of NHL games as a healthy scratch isn't going to hurt/side-track his development in the slightest.

Easiest trade-off in my life.

Kinda like being the best violinist on the Titanic, no?

Lol so Shesterkin lost the starters job after one game? Wow nice coaching.

I thought Quinn was going with a 1a and 1b goalie set up? I mean Geo was brilliant in the last game. I would go with him, till he struggles or there is a back to back game.

Shesterkin can't even hold down the starters job and we're talking about giving him 9M in two years? He should be bridged and then traded.

I would not, his development and long term future with the team is more important. I believe DeAngelo while not Lafreniere is a part of that future whether as a player or asset and this benching isn't good for either of those things.

Missing two weeks would hurt his development?

8 auto wins would mean the team almost surely makes the playoffs. Wouldn't playoff games help his development?

I like DQ going with the same line up. I think it's important to look at how the team won or lost a game. Sometimes you win ugly (or pull off a win in a game you should have lost). But in the last game against the Piles, I think the rangers played almost a flawless game (with the exception of the powerplay). When you win like that, you roll the same line up and tell them, play the same way tonight as you did last game. Keep it simple.

He can do it, he chooses not to, in a contract year last year he never got scratched, wonder why that was? $$$$$$$

And with relation to the Rangers, I don't care what his politics are, or how many fans he wants to challenge to fight.

I would probably think he's a douche in person, but that doesn't matter. I would consider a lot of athletes to be douches in person.

I would just love for him to have a quiet extra-curricular season, and kill it on the ice.
I mean, he killed it on the ice all last year but people still cried and said they hated him being on this team. So the whole "he kills it on the ice" and nothing else will bother the fans is a TAD false.

There's no evidence that what he does off ice had any impact on Quinn's decision. People keep insisting on that because of their own personal disdain for him. Seems pretty obvious that Quinn was upset that he took what he thought was a terrible penalty and he selfishly compounded that when he said whatever he said to the ref and slammed the penalty box door.

Now that the team is coming off of a resounding win he chooses not to mess with the lineup like 99% of coaches do after a similar performance. I don't agree because no matter what happened last game the team is worse with him out of the lineup but this is what coaches do so it's not surprising at all.

No way that any other regulars would have been twice in a row if they did something regardless of the performance. What if it was Trouba or Fox that did something similar?... more out of character I suppose for either of them but everyone gets frustrated time to time so not impossible. They would not have been scratched twice. It is specific to DeAngelo and his history of acting up.
