I've given Pete hell for benching Fayne in favour of Volchenkov as much as anyone. But taking a step back and looking at it, this idea that Stevens is whispering into Deboer's ear about this might hold some weight. The first year Deboer took over, Fayne played in all 82 games that season and all post-season games. Exit Robinson, and enter Stevens. Next year, Fayne is scratched in 17 of 48 games and is off to a perfect start this year. I'm not saying it's entirely true, and Deboer ultimately holds the final say, but the idea does have some merit to it.

He may not have had any points, but one player I was extremely pleased with was Loktionov. He's really improved his strength and skating from last year. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of how he develops this season - I'm starting to think this is the year he really establishes himself in the NHL.

So Ryder and Clowe on same line not a good idea or did I just post at a bad time??? Still cant believe one of your posters told me Fayne was a healthy scratch!!!:shakehead

Threads move fast, but the mods love stupid mega threads so visitors like yourself have difficulty asking questions which sucks. I'd be down for Ryder and Clowe on the same line, a lot of juggling is going on now with all the new players

Another thing that bothered me, putting the old slow line up against Grabner.

They got in general a good system, just some of the decisions are baffling at this point. There was a bunch last year as well (Continuing Kovalchuk at RW despite getting no production at even strength)

Yup. Pretty sure Jagr was out against him in OT too. We didn't establish the forechecking very well tonight either but managed to finally get some good bounces that led to the goals.

Is that you on the left? :sarcasm:

No, the guy on the left is the guy up in 233 that spends 89% of the night harassing and trying to get opposing team's fans thrown out of the arena, and 11% of the night watching a hockey game.

Yeah. I think maybe sometimes Pete defers a bit TOO MUCH on his assistant's "advice".

Hopefully we'll see Fayne on this road trip......BUT I BET VOLCH DOES NOT SIT because Scotty wouldn't like it, I guess. :help:

If they get housed by the Oilers I'm firing up the 2010-o-meter. Do not like what I see at all and their schedule is ridiculously unfriendly until right after Thanksgiving.

Their defensive play is beyond sub-par. I think both goalies had decent (not great) games and the skaters make it as hard on them as humanly possible

Agreed. There were at least 4-5 more, MAJOR D breakdowns that didn't happen to go in. By pure luck, and Marty.

Is he the self-proclaimed (do they vote?) captain of the "233 Crazies." Because he was on stage doing a pseudo-karaoke pump up "we are jersey" speech at championship plaza.

I didn't know britdevil was in the house?

I KID, I KID! Don't kill me, brit. :D

But seriously, is that true, BG? Or is this just an example of you just hating on the old Devils Goal Song?

I didn't realize everyone was feeling so negative about that game. Devils did a lot of good things. Their forecheck showed up like it didn't against Pittsburgh, which is a good sign because the Islanders are really good at moving the puck out of their zone.

Also, at least as of tonight, I really don't mind Salvador. I just wish he was on a team where he was the clear 6th defensemen and wasn't getting bingoballed around the lineup with everyone except Greene.

If anyone's been wearing out their welcome on D it's been Zidlicky. But he did have an assist tonight and kept the play alive in the O-zone numerous times.

This team will straighten itself out. We started last season on fire and fell apart. We started two seasons ago flat and came alive in the second half. No need to sour so quickly on a coach we all loved one-half season ago.

No, I was kidding.

And to be completely fair, the Crazies aren't bad at all anymore. But they used to have some people up there in that section that acted like subhumans every game. Dunno if the subhuman people dropped their ST or were kicked out or what, but that section seems behaved now and has been for several years.

Tasted like dish soap and it was stale. I only tried shock top though. Friend of mine sitting at the other side of the arena felt the same way too.

Sounds better than what I had at the Pens game yesterday. Their "7Up" tasted and smelled like hand sanitizer. Even burned on the way down. I lasted two sips before I stopped drinking it. The second was only to confirm what the first sip told me....

I dont so much hate the old song, I hate how it's used to enable the moronic Sucks/Swallows chant.

Though, truthfully, yeah, I dont think the Devils should play the music of a child-rapist, even if the royalty streams have expired, but that's just me.
