Also moved to 4th in rookie scoring. Passed Tim Stuzle.

Wow.... Nice didnt know that.

They should make a seperate trophy for "best rookie guy to seemingly come out of nowhere and be awesome" (or unexpectedly be awesome) and forever name it the Sharangovich trophy as an honor.

Kinda like Bratt and.... A few others

Kuokkanen is 7th and Smith is 8th.

Smith is also 2nd in rookie assist totals.

This season full of this.

With Ty we expected him to be reasonably good... But no where near as awesime as he has been. Such a treat to watch him run the puck up ice and make super heady plays with the puck.

Kuokkanen, sharangovich, Maltsev all cemted some spots this year....

If Rango has a couple more games like this he will catch up to Wood before season is out...

I really don’t go out of my way to blow the opposition, but I do feel slightly bad for Claude Giroux. The guy was definitely a :eek::eek::eek: in our 2012 playoff series, but he’s one of the more underrated players of his generation and it’s only because he hasn’t won or even been to the conference finals.

He went to the Cup final but that was his sophomore year with those playoffs being him breaking out into one of the best in the league

By the same token would you really put him above Hughes and Nico talentwise or Blackwood and Smith importance-wise?

What does that have to do with anything?

I just want to hear Fitz SPECIFICALLY STATE that Bratt is a part of the core which includes those guys.

Nowhere did I say I'd put him up above those players talent-wise/importance-wise.

Why are you putting words in my mouth, @NJDevs26 ?

I mentioned it earlier but the entry pass by Smith on the 2nd goal was a great play.

You can see that he is drawing the defender over as he looks over to the skater along the boards. Meanwhile Kuok is peeling inside to make space.

Ty sees this develop and changes the play in one motion

The pass hits him perfectly in stride. This ultimate frees up Sharo for the backdoor as Kuok draws two defenders. He still needs to make a great pass to get it to Severson

I get the idea some of Kuokkanen's points are luck and I am not penciling him higher then a 3rd line winger right now, but the idea of letting Seattle have him for free seems absolutely insane to me.

You can't be giving away a rookie forward scoring at his pace for free. Especially not for Bastian
Fitz targeted him too, there's 0 chance he doesn't protect him on that alone.

Of course he did. Sigh. I figured out early that the pre-season “goalie management” talk was wishful thinking from Fitz. Love that old school approach, use those goalies until they break.

Could be he's pushing him to realize the importance of being consistent game in game out.....Or seeing if they have a future 1 or 2 in him.

He doesn't need to audition for anything. Kid is banged up and exhausted.

Ruff doesn't want to punt the last few games and they have zero faith in Dell or Wedge
As a pro and young one at that you re always auditioning Devils are trying to figure out if he is the guy or not.....Ruff has said we need better goaltending...I like Mack but he hasn't shown consistency...In three years when a lot of these guys are ready to push if he plays like he is now everyone will be calling for a goalie....

Young goalies tend to be inconsistent though from what we’ve seen. I’m confident he’ll work this out. I’m not worried about him, he has shown he has the skill and potential, and barely has over 100 games played, including 2 freakish seasons and 1 in which he was injured, contracted COVID and was affected by it pretty bad from his sayings, and where backup goaltending was so bad that he had to be overplayed. I’m not judging Blackwood this season.

I like Bastian, but you don't protect him and expose someone like Kuokannen or Sharangovich. That is crazy talk, and Seattle will be jumping up and down if we did that.
