Man, if Simmonds can keep up with Goose and Hughes and clears some ice for them, that line is going to be fun as hell to watch.

Not sure who should be on other side with Hughes/Gusev

Keep Bratt for his own line, not enough puck for the 3 of them, IMO. I still think Bratt should be with Zacha on 3rd line or something. Who the hell knows how they will mix it up. Zacha is either gonna be on 4th line or wing somewhere else. Seems impossible that we're unable to fit him anywhere (after last season's depth to this now). Not gonna drop any tears on this problem. LOL.

I thought Palmeri with Hughes 100% before watching this game. But now seeing the way they worked together tonight, honestly, anyone with even an ounce of hockey sense who can keep up. I mean Wood... kept up... But that was about it.

The crazy thing about Gusev-Hughes was the near misses. That backhand pass by Hughes was nuts. Bratt looks amazing as well. Zajac is a calming presence. Shootouts and breakaway practice first thing tomorrow.

First Game impression. Not a big fan of P.K . Lost a puck to a stick (Punched the Guy), lost a puck to player (Break Away), lots of showboating that lead to giveaways, lots of missed shots. Wasn’t a fan of the post game celebrations. He did draw a penalty.

If Bratt stays healthy I'm expecting a hell of a season.

With Hughes/Gusev added this might no longer be the case, but I often thought last year that he was the best on the team as far as offensive IQ/creating chances out of nothing. If he's healthy I think 50 points is the floor.

Any video of McLeods goal?

it's somewhere but the puck went around the boards on a dump-in, the goalie went out to play it and it hit an imperfection in the glass as my boy Cangy would say, bounced to McLeod for an empty net

I'll admit, I honestly didn't think Goose and Hughes would gel so well because of how they seem so similar and possibly redundant, but I will happily admit how wrong I was. Those give and goes, knowing where each other were at all times, it's like they had Sedin twin type senses. Which is crazy because I'm almost positive the goose doesn't speak a lick of English. Just pure hockey sense and pure hockey sense working together.

Hockey is the one language both speak and that's how they communicate.

No wonder Nico loves to Hockey.

It's a friggin' language, too!

You came away with a much different impression of PK than I think many of us did. Outside of the one turnover I thought he was great

Zacha can keep up offensively and cover defensively. Hmmmmm. Though Bratt on that line would be magical when not defending.

Palms may have to stay with Hall/Nico, lol (what a shame). I'm starting to feel bad for Nico already because he's now the 2nd son. As long as Nico has that 1C two way skill we golden this season.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind trying to see Zacha up there. He has size and grit down low, defensive skills, can one arm defenders and Hughsev will be waiting to get the puck.

Or, since Hughes/Goose so good, Zacha will have tons more time and open space and be the decoy guy who ends up racking up the goals.

It's probably not gonna be a real combo, but would love to see it tried at least a few times.

One thing I’ll say is that I don’t think Simmonds would be able to keep up with Jack and Goose’s pace of play. Palmieri or Bratt seem like a better fit there.

Sometimes you dont need him to "keep up" sometimes you need a guy who can just come in late or be around the net. Thats what Simmonds can do. Also Simmonds has played with some high IQ players before and been just fine.

Not sure what to make of the bolded......

But for everything else, he was a dominate force out there about 90% of the time.

You know it's official.....and inevitable now :

For those who don't like this song, may I suggest you invest in some ear plugs if you go to the games in person?

Otherwise, it's FUN times for the LIVE Crowd that would look and sound GOOD and FUN on TV! :)

I agree that play was solid, re PK, wayyyy too early, he's so happy to be in NJ, its a good thing.

As much as I like all three of Gusev Hughes and Bratt , I don’t think that they should all be together as a line . No one for a net front presence , smallish , and can’t see them being great defensively as a group. Playing against a “heavy” line would not be fun.
1. Hall - Nico -Bratt -
looked good last year for the short time they were together

2..Gusev - Hughes -Palms
Palms as the trigger man for Hughes and Gusev.... very sexy

3.Boqvist - Zacha -Simmonds
Looks like a very good 3rd line to me .

4. Coleman Zajac Wood (I suck , I don’t know what wing Coleman and Wood are )
