I cannot see this team surviving more than 4 or 5 games in the playoffs and it sucks because the east is so weak this year...
So we are 0-7 in chances to win four straight. It’s quite remarkable actually….like this team starts to think it’s better than it really is and gets complacent? Something is happening here….it’s bizarre.

I agree. They are too injured and lack depth to go far in the playoffs. Even fully healthy, they are a playoff team, not a cup contender.
When fans discuss signing Arseny Gritsyuk for this season, I ask Why? Burn his ELC ? With the lack of cap space? Sign him in off-season and see how he performs next season.

Didnt catch the game but followed the score and now just saw the game recap.
Is there a presser or interview of Keefe slamming Hughes like he does with Nemec? asking for a friend of consistency?(this is even pre Keefe, Luke does not get called out).
Markstrom... is blind. I'm convinced... he is not someone you rely on at all hence why our 1st rd pick shouldn't have been dealt. There was two goals I can say he was left in no man's land but the others... dude...
I see once he gets down, he's quite stiff in reacting in either direction... i'm sure it's gonna get exploited big time...
Get Allen & Daws on deck in the playoffs!

I have serious doubts that Fitz can put this team into contender status. For every good thing he does he handicaps the team with another. He telegraphs to the rest of the league what he wants to do/what players he wants and has zero urgency during the season. He has completely mishandled the forward depth, and the jury is still out on if the d-core he has assembled is contender worthy going forward. The drafting has been a complete and utter failure. We are on the verge of yet another one of his goalie acquisitions failing, with this one costing a first round pick. When things seem to be going well he loves to engage in public self-promotion, but then when things go south (many of which he’s responsible for) he disappears and when he finally comes out he’s throwing his failed draft picks under the bus while crying about how he was forced to fire his shitty BFF coach.
He’s not gonna get shit canned this year since they are making the playoffs and they have the injury excuse, but if this team is in the same position again next year he can GTFO.
The last time this team won more than 3 straight games was January of 2023.

It’s amazing how many of these sort of insane ongoing cursed issues this team has. Worst shootout record in the league for years. Mediocre at home. Can’t win more than three straight games for literally years despite so many great opportunities to do so. Can’t stay healthy. Can’t capitalize on scoring chances/generally suck in the first period. Seem to get scored on in the last minute of periods than most other teams. Last year they gave up the first goal an obscene number of times, more than any other team in the league. I’m sure I’m missing some other unique but horrendous factoids.

You’re right - Canes will win in 5. I’m sad Fitz will get to keep his job because this team will make the playoffs. There was a chance he gets fired if we missed, but I don’t want to miss, so I guess Fitz will stay another season.
He is a terrible general manager. Forget the rambling incoherence and unbridled machismo every press conference - he is a lightweight, empty suit manager, and we deserve better. For two seasons he watched Curtis Lazar and Justin Dowling center our highest paid forward. Get him away from this team.

I honestly think too many people let Markstrom off the hook for last night. Even a staunch goalie sympathizer could see it.
He didn’t give us any chance when we were still in the game.
By the 3rd period everyone had given up.
But goals 2-4 were all bad.
That deflection goal that made it 4-2 in the final minute of the 2nd was as bad as the two that came before it, maybe even worse.
I’m pretty sure the only reason he didn’t go for the hat trick of final minute goals and didn’t give up another in the final minute of the 3rd is because he was no longer in the game.
I’d love to know how many times he’s allowed a goal in the final minute of periods this year.
Just off the top of my head there were two that were the game winner in the final minute of the 3rd period.
I think he even lost a shutout early in the season with a final minute 3rd period goal against, but that may have come with 1 and change.

And it’s funny how 6 of the times it’s happened it’s against some mediocre to really bad team.
Maybe I can cross off the Blues, and I really can’t remember if Calgary were in a playoff spot when they did that.
Of course the last time 3 in a row was snapped it was against our next opponent and Markstrom turned back the clock to 2016.
He turned the clock back to 2016 for the Pens I mean.
