I'll believe the Canes no-showing now translates into the playoffs when I see it. They didn't have much to play for in the 2023 regular season either and were still dialed in for the postseason. They certainly haven't done it for the last three months the way we have though.

With our luck Markstrom will go belly up regardless, that's not hard to imagine with a sub .900 save percentage anyway.

Brindamour is the reason they're still in the rut they are in regards to the playoffs, his shitty ass system gets destroyed by any adequate goalie in the playoffs.

Yeah, I'm usually the more negative ones around here but I don't get the uproar of one April game when they're virtually locked. They've been up and down all year, not sure how this game was an eye opener for anyone who's watched every game of theirs in 24-25. It's what they are as a team at their worst.

Yeah I mean, he's basically saying this team doesn't have the ability to play error hockey without Jack. f***, even with Jack this year, they weren't able to do it. A game like that is something you use for Carolina tape, beat into their heads to be crisp on breakouts and if you don't have anything, don't force anything. RIP to their legs the next few days in practice tho, they're gonna get bag skated into the ground.

They say the same thing after every embarrassing loss. One would hope they'd figure something out by Game 79 of the season, but here we are.

Not that it probably matters at this point. I think a first round loss has been inevitable for a while now. It'd just be nice if they'd go in with some momentum and not have these same letdown performances this late in the season. At least give the fans some hope they could make it a series, or even pull off the upset. I would absolutely love to be wrong and ruin Carolina's season though.

The recipe is there for them to beat Carolina, they need to have Markstrom be on his game + not be as dumb as they were in the 2023 series with giveaways and know how to deal with Carolina's forechecking. Andersen and Kotchetkov can be easily had, especially the latter, the guy is terrible. Keefe also can't be a dumbass compared to Lindy but that's a super low bar not to overcome

I've been thinking the same thing, haha. After every good 3 game win streak, Keefe would say in those locker room clips (something of the nature) "enjoy this one fellas, we're off tomorrow but be ready to get back in it" or "remember the feeling of this one, enjoy it"

Or something or the sort, and they always get crushed, the next one.

Luke was playing drunk last night, and Bratt barely better. Marky couldn't stop a beachball, or rather, every grade A chance went in. I didn't see replay, I saw it from arena but my seat neighbor (another season ticket holder) said that probably was Luke's worst game as a NJD. I'd need to see goals 4 through 7 again.

Team gave up after the end of 2nd. Sad effort yesterday.

at least in the canes series there won’t be an emotional letdown since every game is massive.

i have big faith in the boys tonight. i will say i was very skeptical of their heart and willingness to battle after the jack injury/winnipeg game at the deadline.

the double beating of the Blue Jackets and the rangers game saturday showed this is one of the most resilient teams we’ve had in years. They know the talent isn’t exactly there, but everyone is stepping up. Nico, Jesper, Marky, even Timo who i genuinely thought was cooked.

they have given us no other reason to believe that whenever they need to, they can get the job done. they needed 4 points against CBJ. they Needed to bury the Rangers. They needed 2/3 wins on that Jets/Wild/Wild run.

With the playoff clinch in their hands, i can only think they will pull it out and get 2 points (or at least one) and i will be so proud of them when they do it. They really deserve the playoffs this year, even if it’s a short run.

Makar is legit six feet and casey is actually 5’6

That felt like one of the more solid overall games Casey has played so I don’t really get the talk about him? That was the most minutes he’s ever logged in the NHL and he held up well other than that freak bounce.
