What's pathetic is the idea that the broadcast shows we can clinch if both the rags and fish sticks each lose a game. Doesn't exude a lot of confidence in getting 1 point ourselves.
What are the chances we get 0 points the rest of the year?

Probably next to nothing, but if there were ever a scarier 4 more opponents to end the season it's the gauntlet of cream of the crap teams we have.

You got Pittsburgh, who Markstrom already TURFED last game to.

You got Detroit, who Markstrom TURFED the game in October against.

We got Boston AGAIN next week.

One of the most shocking things of tonight is the Predators are somehow going goal for goal with the Islanders right now at 4-4.

Although, they did have a 2-0 lead at one point in this game that quickly became 2-2 and they were eventually down 3-2.

IF the Islanders lose just ONE point tonight, they officially can't catch us, as we'd own the tiebreaker. We already have Columbus locked out.

Then we just need the Rangers to lose one point. And we can get HUMPED by all the humpty teams for the rest of the year. And even get passed by Detroit (mathematically), without actually losing our playoff spot to them because all of the Metro teams behind us will be officially dead!

Never mind about Detroit, they lost in regulation to Montreal lol.

A performance like that at home against a bad team with a chance to clinch less than two weeks before the playoffs start…yeah not a great sign, in case the last three months didn’t show you anything,

It's almost as if they can't stand prosperity. Win 3, shit the bed game 4.

Better now than game 1 vs canes

I am sure Keefe gave lit up the room tonight
I can't even trust this team to give effort for every game of a seven-game playoff series at this point. One thing you KNOW about Carolina - those shitheads will give effort in every game, we have to match it to have any hope of beating these f***sticks.

I'm gonna look up all of the fourth games that snapped every 3 game winning streak this year, and see exactly how many of them came against a BAD team.

Here's all of the times we've had 3 game winning streaks snapped.

Calgary. Shutout by the legendary Dan Vladar, who most people probably haven't even heard of. ''Is he an AHL call up?'' No, but he should be.

San Jose! Also by shutout!

St. Louis. Once again by shutout. That was right after the coaching change. I'm pretty sure they were at or under NHL.500 then.

Columbus. Won't be in the playoffs. Not by shutout though. I'm pretty sure they snapped a 5 or 6 game losing streak with that win.

Carolina! WOO! One team that was definitely in a playoff spot and will be in the playoffs.

Pittsburgh. Markstrom looked just like he did in this one.

I think that's all of them. Carolina and St. Louis will be the only playoff teams and St. Louis were not in a spot at the time. I can't remember if Calgary was. I'm pretty sure Columbus were not at that current point in time.

Welp, pretty pathetic effort from most of the roster. Thought it was obvious Markstrom looked like shit and should have been on a short leash after the 1st period. Then the 3rd goal should have made it an easy decision to pivot. He was sliding around like a beer league rando even before allowing that muffin. It was comical. Braindead game from Luke as well unfortunately.

Idk. It's pretty infuriating to see them suck it up that much at home and this close to the playoffs, regardless of the stakes. This team needs to be playing with swagger heading to Carolina or they are gonna get pasted. Still probably get pasted either way, but they are 100% f'd if they roll in with no momentum on top of being the inferior team.

Nah Id be surprised. The effort will be there each game.

The execution though I have doubts

LOL well to be fair they can each lose before we even play again...but yeah it'd be fitting if we wound up backing into the playoffs.

Why would you assume that? They didn't even show up every playoff game in 2023, although Vitek takes all the blame on this board for the first two games against the Rangers really the entire team didn't show up then either, or in three of the Cane games that year.

The last two games are the perfect prism for the 2025 Devils in a nutshell. Dominant one game, shitty the next
One of the most 2024-2025 Devils things is to have their 3 game winning streak die at 3 by the hands of some cream of the crap, loser, suck team like the one we played tonight.

I don't know if this game was more typical 2024-2025 Devils having their 3 game winning streak snapped or the type of game that seems to happen at least once a year for the last 15 against Boston, who even in the one year when they're at the bottom of the conference we still get HUMPED by.

Just like even in the 22-23 season we were still swept by those ''Most points ever in a regular season!'' frauds.

I think the goalie decisions are probably above his head.
Perhaps that's fair but I'd like to think he's got a LITTLE autonomy with another vet goalie on the roster, especially now that they don't have to worry about the pick going back to Montreal increasing in value.

I missed tonight's game.

Wtf happened....?
Good start, but team seemed to fall asleep after falling down 1-0 on a horrible giveaway by Bratt. Constantly got stuck in their end the last half or maybe only the last third of the period. Including a marathon shift in the final minute of the period which led to a pretty stoppable goal on Markstrom.

Markstrom then sunk them in the 2nd period with a leaky goal, followed by a super slow motion tip, in what was yet again the final minute of the period.

Then the team just gave up completely in the 3rd. It looked like a bunch of middle aged beer leaguer's came out disguised as the Devils to play the 3rd period.

Keefe isn’t the one who gave up a 1st for Markstrom.

All that said, I don’t really have a problem with Markstrom starting tonight. He had played better and there was plenty of rest. Giving him the opportunity to run with the net was fine. But it should be open competition over the last 4 games after tonight. Allen should get Friday.

I still think he has a short leash with Markstrom in the playoffs, it's fine to give him run now when you seemingly have a cushion again but I don't think he'll let the season die with another Markstrom slump before at least trying Allen. This same 'organizational structure' pulled the plug on Vitek for Schmid two years ago.

Not much to say after this one. Disappointing to say the least. Markstrom was terrible and he opened the door for Allen to challenge him again.

Hey, the Canes have lost 3 straight against Detroit, Boston and Buffalo, scoring 3 goals and giving up 13 in that span if it makes you feel any better (It doesn't).
