GDT: Devils vs. Blackhawks, 7:30pm

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Markstom also confirmed it was an MCL sprain.

He did, on the TNT post game.

Why is it we can't get any info from our team for weeks, and Markstrom (who we haven't been able to see any post game interviews in forever, but was playing) gets a 2-4 minute interview with TNT and just as easily discloses/confirms his injury, and we get nothing from team media nor MSG prior.

Why is it so hard for our own fans to get info and they discuss it like that in national game showing.

If NJ had the guts to let me play I’d make sure they’d win. Sure I’d eventually get suspended for a game in the second round but all the Canes would be nursing gunshot wounds
Dad, you raised me better than that. We both know anti-freeze in their Gatorade bottles is the correct method and hard to trace:sarcasm:

Timo time should never end!

If TImo keeps playing like this through the rest of the season and into the playoffs, I will be very content.

Listening to the Schneider and Boyle podcast last week, they said there was a player (unnamed friend/acquaintance of Boyle - dunno former player or current) who had a convo with the GM post UFA signing into the first season, was like "how come you aren't replicating that TDL playoff stretch run and playoffs mode, when we got you. I want that player now "

The player responded "are you kidding me, I can't play like that a full season"

"So how many games can you do this for?"

"Like 50 or 60".

"Okay I'll get the coach to scratch you for however many games, so you can give me that always"

(The numbers I maybe got off but it went something like that).

---

Kinda reminds me of Timo style.

His game elevated on a flip of a switch (again). Like last year, like the year before. Guy is balling out hard and it's amazing to see the intense/physical skating timo.

If the guy is just calculating and saving it for the meaningful moments, it's an interesting strategy. It dips his regular season numbers but if he turns to beast mode at will, and ends up powering a run, could be very dangerous.

I think this means we are pretty much in the playoffs with the win tonight and Isles loss.

Even if Isles win their next two they'd be down 5 pts with only 9 games remaining. And a rags win would be 7 pts with 9 games left

Would really be an epic collapse at this point to feel the pressure.
Not so fast. They have 3 hard games coming up. Winnipeg will probably blow this team back. Minnesota I think you hope for a split, maybe 3 points over those 2.

Assuming it's only 2 at that point, Islanders will be 11 points back with 5 games in hand. If Isles/Rags go on a heater it could be 1-2 points back with 6 games left and the Devils will play both the Rags and Isles in that remaining span...

National broadcasters aren’t beholden to the team. It is something the team obviously didn’t want out there and Markstrom spoke out of term. Team broadcasters no to step around those questions.

It also why you get a more honest assessment of the team’s play during national broadcasts.

Or with Timo it is simply he is getting more elevated PP time with Jack out and more pucks or going in when they weren’t in January.

More pucks are going in for sure, but it's with the intensity he skates around in the offensive zone. A lot more strength/power, and general speed.

I get what your saying, some could be more confidence inspired results from ice time, but it definitely seems like a switch flipped, to me.

They are obviously under the misconception that the fans mean nothing. It's the same around the league but they will take every dime you have to watch their bad product🤔

The Isles have some tough ones too. Tampa-Carolina-Tampa-Minnesota-Washington

Ya the TV crew did allude to the fact it got tipped but I was kinda zoned out a bit when they were up 2 and my initial reaction was how tf did they go in? I gotta see it again to make sure. But again, I'm probably the biggest Markstrom critic here and I don't think any of the goals were that damning tonight. I was more looking at his angles and how he was playing shots and it still felt like he was fighting it a bit

It was tipped but the way Markstrom is playing lately, he could give up that rebound on an untipped shot. He definitely had a few bad rebounds/failures to secure the puck.

I'm not sure Markstrom made more than 1 or 2 "clean" saves last night. Every puck was bouncing off him or out of his glove. He was really fighting it.

They will never do it (at least not to start), but at this point, Allen really should be the playoff goalie.

I'm sure it's been talked about but it's pretty glaring the Markstrom got the start last night. I get wanting him to find his grove prior to the playoffs, but they are treating it as if this team has locked up a spot.

Maybe they saw Chicago as such an easy game? but man going strictly by level of play on the ice Allen should be starting 75% of the games right now.
