Looks like I need to find a stream to watch the ceremony on Marty night. This is such *********.

Matt Loughlin ‏@MattLoug 3m3 minutes ago
@Scottyk9 @NJDevils @MartinBrodeur The ceremony will run on Center Ice but most likely not on http://NHL.TV .

This is the kind of stuff that leads people to believe the NHL has an anti-Devils bias. They've definitely aired other stars' number ceremonies on the NHLN.

NHL Network is not going to televise the ceremony?

As of right now it doesn't sound like they are. Just MSG and the Devils feed of center ice (assuming the Oilers feed won't air it).

Edit: there is no reason for them NOT to air it though. NBCSN's game is Dallas/Wild and that starts at 8, and I don't see any game scheduled for NHL Network. So if they don't air it that is ********.

BG is about as accurate as mainstream weather, maybe more so. It would just be our luck if we got a nor'easter early next week.

Thing is there's still plenty of time for projections to shift.

And shift they will. Flux is normal this far out from an event as the computers dont have enough data yet, but there's enough consensus to confirm something's afoot. Euro now shows a total miss because it gets pushed east out to sea before the ridge can bring it north. GFS backed down too and only shows 1" or 2" that day, though the Canadian model still shows really big hit. Really dont see how pointing out the potential for a storm is "fear-mongering", thought I was being helpful, but I can keep the weather talk to the TAN as per usual so a few people dont get all rear-end hurt.

Maybe that's the problem...if they're contractually obligated not to run any live game action (even if it's just the ceremony) against the NBCSN/CBC 'national' telecasts. Although the ceremony IS before the actual game, maybe even before their pregame.

I cant imagine that. I'll be really shocked if they dont televise it.

But the NBC game is at 8:00PM EST so they can easily air the ceremony on any channel.

I don't know what the situation would be in Canada, but there doesn't seem to be anything in the way outside of them not airing their pre-game chatting.

So our Monday night game is on the Network against the Rags. There is no game scheduled for the Network on Tuesday. Just NHL Live and NHL Tonight.

So ya, there doesn't seem to be a reason that I know of for them not to air the ceremony on at least the Network.

A little off topic from Marty, but I've always been confused as to why Niedermayer's last year on his banner is 04, and Stevens is 05.

Technically Niedermayer could be 04, but both of them played their last games with the team in 04 and both were still contracted to the team last in 2005.

There definitely is a bias.

To not show the all time wins leader's ceremony is a disgrace.

Usually weather talk goes in the TAN, but since it pertains to February 9th..... There's a potential big snowstorm for the area on that date.

Given it's 7 days out, and given there's statistically probably only about 40% or 50% odds of it happening, you wont hear about it on the news yet, but thought it may be worth mentioning here.

I'm not sure if Hasek's last year was aired on the NHLN, I'm pretty sure Rob Blake's with the Kings was.

Maybe I'm wrong on that one, but I'm almost positive that it was.

All due respect to Rob Blake, if he can get his aired on NHLN, Marty should be too.

And Rob Blake played for 3 teams, Marty played all of 7 out of like a gazillion games with one team.

It's just silly that the NHL Network wouldn't show Marty's jersey retirement - the network is 90% NHL Tonight & re-runs of games. I love the NHL, but barely ever watch this network since the original programming is awful.

Right now, NHL Live runs from 5-7...even if they don't want to interupt that, they should at least show the ceremony on delay at 7:00 instead of NHL Tonight, which is largely just a "live look in" on games going on.

Whatever though...I'll be there and recording the ceremony on MSG, so doesn't impact me personally. Just odd if they don't show it and I'm sure there would be a good amount of interest, even from many non-Devils fans.

If you guys want, I'll periscope the ceremony. I'll just bring my mega backup battery, and hope my arms don't give out.

I remember Selanne's was on NHLN a few years back. I watched it live.

What do people think the bars will be like on Tuesday during the game? Im thinkin of getting there by 5:30 and staying throughout the game with a few friends because it's too expensive to get in. You think there will be a decent amount of people there during the game?

I remember watching it too, though it might have been on the Ducks feed on center ice when I watched it. I think it was just last year.

Probably packed.

I'll probably get a couple slices of pizza, somewhere far away and a couple hours before I make my way there.

I'd bet on them probably being a little more packed than usual during the game though. If you're referring to Edison Ale House or one of the other bars near the arena. Not even sure what else has opened up there in the past few years since I was last there.

ill guess that places will be pretty busy that night if just for an alternative to actually being inside for the ceremony and still wanting to be hanging with devils fans.

i just hope that no one visits "arena bar" or whatever they called it afterwards.

had pregame food and drink on opening night at the rock in 07 ….i heard that tony really alienated a ton of fans in the months afterwards……so ya, **** him and that place for putting up the facade of a fan friendly pre game bar….. since then it seems way more welcoming places have opened up in the area and deserve our business instead.

FWIW, it appears we should be OK with the weather for Tuesday. Latest forecast I'm seeing calls for 1-3 inches of snow Monday night into Tuesday, but that should be done early in the morning and it should a decent day.

Surprisingly(or not) plenty. You want chains you got Chipolte and Joe's Crab Shack. Soul food/seafood Duke's is towards the Gateway. A pizza and burger joint opened on Market St. And that's not including what may open in the near future.

On topic I still don't know why they would choose a weeknight game in Feb. for this where traffic and weather are likely big problems.

Would've been tough to choose a game early in the season, especially with a statue being erected and all. Plus they had to work around Marty's schedule. Also to their benefit to schedule vs. low drawing team mid-week. This is a big enough event that people should be able to get out of work early and into Newark in enough time.

He also said he didn't want to do a weekend game because his kids usually have games on the weekend and he wanted them to be there.
