They’re on a road trip far away from their minor league team so he came on the trip in case someone in the top 6 played poorly or got hurt.

It’s perfectly reasonable for him to have traveled, even if it meant he didn’t play for another 3 games.
I don’t find it reasonable that MacDermid will be in for a couple shifts instead of him though. I heard Keefe’s reasoning but I don’t like it.

I think the speed thing might be overrated with who plays with those guys. If you had someone who couldn't keep up on a breakout/entry that may actually benefit them. Built in trailer who doesn't distract from what they do and be sort of a 'stay at home' forward. Palat just gets in the way and is a black hole if he ever ends up with the puck.

I know most hated him, but Toffoli was perfect for that. Glide in late, pick up a pass and bury it.

Palat is doing exactly what you're describing. He had a bad game on Friday night and has been bad for too much of the season, but that's his function on that line. He can also theoretically go get pucks in corners. As a trio, they've only gotten 42% of the shots but 56% of the xGs in 64 minutes together. The Devils have gotten 37% of the shots and 33% of the xG when Palat is away from those two - I'd stick with the combo for a while.

I'm just not seeing it - He can theoretically do a lot of things but he's not actually doing much, even if some of the numbers say otherwise.

Think it would be better served throwing Palat down with Macdermid and Dowling and raise those guys rather than drag the other two down.

Remember when Janssen scored 3 goals in 16 games? Including in his season debut and then again in his third game of the season.

The first one was a deflection on Ray Emery, that was one of the slowest deflections I’ve ever seen. It probably could have been a softy of the night contender if I was doing that in that season. I don’t remember his goal against Nashville two games later. I see it on the game log. I remember him scoring in that blowout win, I just don’t remember what the goal looked like.

The third was a very controversial and questionable goal on Lundqvist that could have been called back for goalie interference. I’m sure we all remember him breaking his stick on the crossbar after that. And did he flip the net over too?

Janssen had 3 goals in 16 games, which was half of his career goals in the NHL. If I counted this right, he had 3 goals in 312 games before that.

Brutal and brutal.
so you think its brutal ...

curious to hear what you think it would cost to get a big and fast 9OA pick in a very deep draft that has a very good 200 foot game and has 3yrs ELC . i think its exactly what we need and there wont be any cap space available for the foreseeable future to get a quality guy via trade or FA.

who could ever forget his incredible first nhl goal
Stoppable goal on Brent Johnson. It took me a second to remember his name. Just because it's been forever since he's played. Even though I think I remembered every team he was on. I'm thinking ''He was the Caps then, he played for the Blues before that. He even played for Pittsburgh at the end. What the hell was his name?''. I even remembered him taking over for Roman Turek in the playoffs in 2001, which I believe they were playing Colorado in the WCF that year. After Turek let in some of his famous and often times from center ice or the blueline playoff softies.

I feel like he was more shocked than anybody that Cam Janssen scored that goal on him. Ovechkin probably scored goals like that on him in practice daily, but Cam Janssen?

I'm pretty sure one of his two goals in St. Louis was off his skate. And it was questionable whether or not it was a kicking motion.

or,

hear me out...we keep our former top 2 pick who had a fairly strong rookie year as a teenager on a bad team

how about just answer the question?

one of Nemec/Casey is redundant and we really need a quality C to get our Version of Lundell.

people have problems to change opionions they once made for themselves and even more so fans tend to overate their own prospects

I mean it’s not redundant. You do not trade potential star D for a 3C.

I think it’s overrating to call him the top U21 D prospect but still dumb to move him for a f***ing 3C
