Nobody told me there'd be days like these...

People thinking Nemec is on the block/available for trade because he's been scratched for a few games after a rough start to the season post injury and Kovacevic playing maybe the best hockey of his career is quite something.
He’s been long rumored to be part of a package for Anderson from Montreal.

Can we afford to pickup a forward? Not sure about how the roster size works; been a while since I paid attention to that

We had Bastian sitting as well as Nemec, and MacDermaid rotated in

DAMMIT! You beat me to it!

The Josh Anderson jokes will forever be too easy when it comes to trade rumors involving us and Montreal. At least until his deal is done.

Not looking like shit in B2B with teams with their other teams backup in? I don't even fault them for the Detroit loss but that's still a comically bad loss in totality. They're losing games in the stupidest fashion, just expecting them to get better from what we've seen this from the Devils outside of 22-23 is wishful thinking. They looked slower than Lou's retirement home of misfits last night, I don't see how that doesn't raise a concern for the majority of this fanbase.
Bro they've played 12 games. It's October.

Take a Xanax. Relax.

Edit: Whoops grabbed an old post. Still, enjoy the ride guys. It's... Very... Early.

It's interesting to watch how Keefe has the same idea as he had with the leafs to over load the top line every once in a while to shake things up. I always assumed it was down a couple desperation move, but he seems to do it more randomly than that, don't hate it.
In last nights game at least it was late period, so it wouldn't mess with the lines going fwd. Kind of think I remember that in previous games as well. Or at least it was late game and was, as you note, a desperation move. But yesterday was late period.

He does it a bunch of times for offensive zone starts and it seems to be so that Nico can take the face off but not deny Jack an offensive zone start.

the bad games from last week featured some pretty poor face off numbers I believe so it's possible this is Keefe adjusting.

Also not a secret that Jack is still bad at face offs while Nico is the best on the team at them.

It's the alternative to Ruff's solution which was to put Haula with Jack so Haula could take the faceoffs

The goaltenders' stats are really alarming

View attachment 922816

Not nearly as alarming as you might imagine. A 6/4 piece of plywood would have bad numbers with the team that plays in front of the Comets keepers. The defensive zone coverage is appalling. The odd man rushes are more common than any other zone entry. The shots from hand shaking distance with no Comet in sight is unreal. I know the Comets are not a good team, but DiNeen would be run out of own on a rail if he were coaching an NHL team playing this horribly in their own end.

I could be wrong as I dont watch the AHL.. but its got to be hard maintaining systems (or constantly tweaking them) to fit the talent you have when your big club is stealing from it at a rapid pace for the last half-decade

Then again, most of NJ's best players have come straight to the NHL from outside leagues; perhaps change is needed in Utica

Yeah that doesn't surprise me, Ftorek was a bit of a weird bird and just did annoying little things like scratching Rafalski in his homecoming at Detroit or scratching Dano so he couldn't reach his 1000th game played at home.
