What would a Hamilton for Spencer knight swap look like?

Currently the leader in PP TOI among knights dman is Uvis Balinskis.

If they don't want to give Ekblad massive term, so maybe a hamilton replacement to run their PP and not lock them in long term.

Gets us a goalie to potentially use as the longer term guy.

This team needs to spend every draft pick it has on forwards with the possible exception of the obligatory mid round goalie selection. They are running very thin down the organization, especially at center.

Cheap cost controlled middle six depth is pretty expensive to acquire if you’re not the team drafting them. Is there anyone in the organization right now not in the NHL who has a good chance of being top-nine besides Lenni? @Guadana @StevenToddIves (I’m forgetting others)

Defense is fine both for now and the long term future (Silayev, Hughes, Nemec, Casey) and they don’t have the luxury to hedge against that with more early d-man selections right now

Gritsyuk and Lenni in more short term perspective. Long term... may be Traff. I didn't saw any game of Pikkarainen this season may be something is there, I had no confidence about him before. We should look at Squires in Utica.

We should definitely start to draft forwards for maximum potential, not just for bottom six physical role.

I forgot about Grits he should also be a 3rd liner at minimum once he moves over. Sadly because of age and status he won’t be cost controlled for very long but he’ll be a good value player given his talent level

They went big and heavy in the draft last year now they need more skill and hockey IQ for that middle 6 group in medium term

Okay, sacrilegious nonsense time. Let's pretend the Rangers reeeeeeeeally bottom out and become sellers. Would you ever entertain one of our blue chip prospects plus a cap dump like Palat for Panarin? 1.5 years left of control, obviously an all-world player.

I'm sure the Rangers would want to move him to basically anyone else, but he loves the area and loves where he lives, with the NMC the team's options might very well be limited.

They went big and heavy mostly in 22, 23 and 24. They should change their priorities as soon as they should do it yesterday. And now we have only Gritsyuk(who was drafted back in 2019) and Lenny(who was very rare 2nd round pick we all like to trade for temporary solutions to previously made mistakes) who looks like forwards with some real NHL potential. Its not that good for a team with one play-off appearance in 5-6 seasons.

No, Devils have plenty of star talent, what they need to do is try and acquire the Blake Coleman, Artturi Lehkonen, Ivan Barbashev types that helped the Avs, Knights and Lightning win cups. Two way forwards that can play up and down the lineup and improve the depth of the team.

Didn’t they just take a swing at that with Cotter and Noesen?

I’ll get really sacrilegious, Kakko apparently isn’t in love with how the deploy him, he only gets 13.5 minutes a night, and he’d be a guy I’d like to get for the current Devils.

Likes to play on the boards, chip and chase, can recover pucks.

Sure his offense never developed fully but he still brings good qualities to the table that would be great on the Devils.

I have no clue what the Rangers will want or think they should get but he could fit and I’d want him.

to an extent but you can never have too many forwards that are good in all zones. Having Gourde, Palat, Cirelli, Killorn, etc… didn’t stop the Lightning from adding Coleman.

Players like Coleman or Lehkonen are useful on every team in the NHL. Where as paying up for another top 6 scoring option when you already have multiple offensive stars can bring diminishing returns.

I really only enjoy poking at Ranger fans on Kakko. He seems like a perfectly fine player who has a lot of useful tools. Not worthy of 2nd overall with the benefit of hindsight, but I was enamored with him heading into the 2019 draft before we won the lottery. I think wherever he ends up next, since I don't think the Rangers will continue to try and make it work with him, he'll probably flourish even further.
