You can be psyched? I like Daws too. All I care about is player development. They played him because they had to, regardless of his best interests. It doesn’t mean he can’t come out of this season just fine and dandy.

The fact that Daws wasn’t completely overwhelmed and seemed to work on his game while in the NHL was a good thing. I think he would have an easier time continuing that work in the AHL after this next season.

If you want my opinion on Blackwood, I’ve broken down his game log before and his poor play pretty much corresponds with his health issues. I don’t know what exactly happened with his heel or his relationship with the team.

If he’s healthy it seems inevitable that we give him one last try unless we get something really worthwhile in a trade AND we have other good solutions to the goalie crisis. I have my doubts about all that happening.

He’s signed for 2.8m. I don’t see the team getting two new goalies.

We also have no idea how Bernier is doing but they can slow walk him from the IR, I don’t see them declaring him 100% healthy and saying he’s one of the starters next season.

So, yes, I see our original Ronald golden arches tall weirdo + a new hope (that hopefully is not crushed by pre-season) as next season’s tandem since the team keeps blabbing about getting a goalie.
You're still ignoring two glaringly Kyrie sized holes in my argument. I've made them several times already so won't belabor the point.

If it seems like I'm hanging my hat on Daws because it's the only potentially bright spot I see in net for years (plural), you'd be correct. But unfortunately that's that's how I view our situation back there.

I'm all ears for a solution and/or would love to be proven wrong, but crazy pads macgoo needs to be sent out with a package the first time he records a shutout. So long as he can stand up long enough without blaming someone else for not allowing him to sit whilst doing it.

Or we just keep crazy pads McGee and bring in another goalie.

I don't see how we replace both goalies this off season.

Last year's team wasn't very good but also didn't get good goaltending and COVID absolutely did not help, they played a brutal schedule.

2019-20's team wasn't all that good. Hall was not the same player he was before the injury, Hughes wasn't quite ready for the NHL, Subban did not bounce back, Schneider wasn't any good, Simmonds was not good, and so on. I never really thought Hynes was the problem but he did have to be fired.

They're clearly getting better. They need a new head coach and coaching staff, but this should be the last time we have conversations like this about this iteration of the Devils. Nico and Jack arrived this year.
Jesper Bratt has entered the chat.

Tkachuk with an extension for #1 or #2 overall if the Devils have either of them seems to make a ton of sense for both teams. Devils could then afford to trade Bratt and recoup a lot of that value.
Or they can keep Bratt and have Tkachuk on the same team 'cause it would be infinitely MORONIC to trade him away when you don't have to. 🧐

Plus there's no guarantee you can recoup the appropriate value in return to what the unicorn brings to the team anyway.

You would think even by accident someone of Hamilton’s talent could luck into more production though, especially while our other top players are swimming in points. Yeah I know he’s got excuses but right now I’m getting PK-type heebie jeebies from him.
Nah.

It's the injuries and wearing that friggin' helmet/cage/fishbowl/whatever that's affecting his play.

Next season he should be good.

SHOULD.

Calgary won’t be trading Tkachuk, that ship has long since sailed. Dude is a beast and about to hit 100 points.

If the ask was Bratt and our first this year, I’d really struggle to say no. He’s that good.
Fair point.

But, imo, trading one talent for another leaves us in the same situation.

Devils should be adding to the talent we already have.

Not rearranging the chairs on a cruise ship.

Unsurprising to say the least that we've only won 2 games without that group registering anything on the scoresheet.

Holy shit, I must have seen his tweets before but I somehow forgot that “Relaxed & Fun Broadcast Fella, You Can Tell By This Casual Shirt and Pained Forced Smile” Cangi was his Twitter photo.

I’ve seen it in meme form for so long I lost touch with reality lol. (Or Twitter.)

That just means I get to enjoy the discovery of it all over again.

Well, depends. If you're trading for a type of talent that we don't have (i.e. a scoring power forward), then it's reasonable.

Hamilton was doing as well as advertised before he got his jaw smashed and wore that cage. #FreeTheJaw
Why the heck does he even still have the cage on months later? Hopefully this isn’t a permanent deal

Subtracting so much production is bad, you’re making you team a lot worse to make an addition. We wouldn’t get that much better.

The hope is to make trades like the Buchnevich one. Or even trading someone like Holtz, where his production is unknown. Subtracting a key young player is the last move you should make.

The the only possible scenario were Bratt should only go is if the contract negotiations go very badly but I doubt that happens. He’s an unsigned RFA, his contract situation hurts his trade value.

I can’t wait until Calgary finally locks up Tkachuk so I don’t have to hear about him anymore.
