Yeah

We got him during the first Fitz offseason

I still support that trade. Joey Anderson wasn't all that good and the chances of him ever being a full time NHLer at this point are very slim. And I think they were slim then.

Looks like him and Seney are back in the same organization again.

Joey Anderson is turning 25 in a few months and has played 72 NHL games and 52 of them were with us. He's played 20 games in the league since that trade. Over 3 seasons.
He’s in the Lafferty/McCabe trade maybe getting icetime will let him be a late bloomer.

Anderson could easily not be a NHLer but players like him fall through the cracks in Toronto easily.

They pore a ton of money into player development and do a great job with it.

And also use the vast resources to grab bunches of undrafted extra prospects and stuff them in their minors system.

And they have all those vet signings.

They have a lot of stuff.

At RW, Anderson was behind Marner, Nylander and…

Stefan Noesen and Wayne Simmonds and Odrej Kase and Calle Jarnkrok and Noel Acciari.

Timothy Liljegren just broke into the NHL line-up and he was taken at #17 in 2017. Not a lot of teams play a 1st round pick in the AHL for 5 years if they’re good.

It likely took longer because of COVID, he got 150 regular season games (plus 30 playoff games) in 5 years. But still, that is some old school slow walking.

Final question in the last 20 seconds of the clip, answered succinctly, "I'm trying to hammer out a deal with his agent as we speak."

Oh baby, please

That whole interview was incredibly candid. Talking about getting more grit and adding depth while also trying to make some cap room to possibly get something done. And then the Bratt stuff.

But planning the parade when we've made the playoffs once in the last 10 years seems a little bizarre? No?
Let fans be fans.

I don’t think we are the favorites (are aren’t the Bruins obviously), but they are a contender. They can beat the Rangers and Canes. Who knows from there.

Wood Shara and Blackwood better watch their backs. About the only guys who the Devils will move to create that space.

Basic question, does moving Bernier helps us at all? Like could we trade him to the capitals for Connor Brown (plus more) and then only activate Brown for the playoffs?

I dunno because Im not sure how the LTIR works in that case. I suppose its possible? Someone else can surely answer this question.

Not really, LTIR is covering his entire cap hit. At best it's clearing out one of our fifty contracts.

Think of all the great devils teams back in the day.

And now realize that this team is on pace to break the franchise record for most points in a season (111 in 2000-2001) franchise record for wins is 48 in a year. They are at 39 already

Most fans seem not to like the idea of Domi. How about Parise if he’s available to fill out our third line. He not the big grittier player Fitz mentioned he would like. But Zach plays with heart. It will be interesting to see who we add if we do at all.

There was so much hype about Speers. I think he played 3 games for us.
How much hype he got is irrelevant. He was a 3rd round pick. He did well after getting drafted got hyped and then never turned out.

Kind of insane though that Speers played 3 NHL games at 19 and then never played another for us. Played 2 more for Arizona last season at 25. How does that happen.

He's definitely a winger. He's played very minimal center. Also hasn't been that good. Would rather just re-sign Haula
Prior to this season he was mainly a center but playing on a Tampa team that has Point, Stamkos, Cirelli and Paul has seen him playing mostly winger this season. As a local kid that can play center or wing, is still relatively young and has produced solid offensive results relative to his minutes I think he'd be a good player to look at depending on the price.

East this year is giving me some 2018 vibes.

Division winners probably run over the WC teams who have little playoff experience.
Solid matchups for the 2-3 series.
ECF is going to be an absolute bloodbath of the 2 surviving teams.

Only difference is the 2nd round will likely be even crazier this time around

I could see the East steamrolling the West in the final again too but the Avs look like they're regaining form, still they're not the same team they were last year.

Also crazy that this Boston team feels miles better than the 2019 team that went to game 7 of the cup final

How does what happen, a prospect not work out? He didn’t work out.

We probably shouldn’t have kept him for the in the NHL in 2016-17.

It was more due to a lack of bodies than him doing anything in particular to make that seem like a good idea.

He broke his wrist in his first game back in the OHL, so the start of 2016–17 wasn’t great for him.

He blew out his Achilles in Arizona at some point.

Speers had his flaws like every later pick. He was very productive in juniors but on a stacked team.

Here’s the All About the Jersey’s pre-draft page about him

The profile mentions a lot about his weight being a problem and him needing to bulk up and get stronger.

He didn’t really get stronger while with us and injuries didn’t help.

This is Dobber Prospects on him

One part of AABTJ also mentions work ethics.

Shit went sideways for him in 2018-19, apparently he was very mopey in Bing. They shipped him out partly to give him a new start.

The AABTJ AHL guy basically called him a locker room cancer near the end.

Here’s Dobber on his shitty last season with us:

People were excited about him on this board because he was a talked about faller on this board. I don’t know if the team made some special big deal about him.

Smaller skill guys taken later in the draft are very boom or bust, and generally do the later.

He’s not that interesting of busted prospect other than I guess it’s surprising he never scored much even in lower leagues.

I don’t even know how he’s associated with Shero much, he was hired on May 5th and the draft was June 26-27.

This was from a Pens Fansided article about Pittsburgh possibly trading Beau Bennett
