jacks latest shoulder/head shot injury was self inflicted or stick in the skate. he lost it breaking in and slid shoulder first into the boards.. whatever he supposedly has, his doctor doesnt think it will be worsened by playing and he has 5 goals in the last 5 games . if he goes back to center he better get his ass back in front of allen on D. do we really want that responsibility?

No one is happy about the end result of this. Them having a contest at the end of practice is far from the end of the world. Amanda tweeting about it isn’t a big deal because there are people who just care to know what the team is doing.

The season itself is miserable enough, the misery doesn’t need to extend further beyond that. We’ll be at the end soon enough.

I'm thinking a Tom Wilson type player, or even a Miles Wood.

As others have said it's a no win situation for Hischier speaking to the media at this point, but you honestly don't think he's said those exact words about losing to teams they're supposed to be better than in the locker room already? Let's not pretend like these guys are ignorant to their own talent level and records.

I mean, with Kovalchuk in Atlanta, it can certainly be both things - the way he played wasn't helping the team a whole lot even with all the goals he was scoring. Also the bottom of the roster wasn't very good.

Jack is just making people forget about what he looked like last season. He is going to be an absolute terror if he is ever healthy again.

Forget last season, he was over 2 points per game before his first injury this year.

My point with that was simply that even with Hughes playing as ineffective as he has been, he's still far from the biggest issue with the team.

Oh don't say if, the thought of Jack never getting healthy again is going to give me night terrors.

I'm much more concerned about our $9 million dollar defenseman that earned all that money with his slapshot and will likely never have that again.

I agree, it's combination of the things, but mostly defensive issues since the goals for is still good.

On the other hand Goals Against going from 2.71 (8th best) to 3.39 (6th worst) is unbelievably bad. Boston hasn't had that big of a change in a decade that Devils had between this and last year.

It is going on now not because of goalies. Goalies doing great now. What can Saros do what Allen doesn't do now? Saving 95% of shots. Without 3C who can play 2C role, without 2LD or 3LD who can play solidly 2LD role and without fast forechecking forwards this team will continue to be bad. Because that's what they are now - average or even little below average team with good goaltending. Im not against good goalie, but it should be a trade that will not hurt depth, because depth is much more important than goalies. Goalies shouldn't be bad like they were before trade deadline. But there are lot of grades between Vanecek and Vezina winner.

giving a first and a good player for a goalie not a good move. defense needs some defensemen who goes and who stays is a big question here, especially as you said 2D and 3D do we move marino to 3? do we upgrade siegs

Nico is a clown for saying “certain teams” in his statement last night. Guy has been on a non-playoff team for most of his career and probably on the most inconsistent Devils team in a decade. He’s still a baby. He really needs to drop the gloves before he hits 30. Every leader fights, even Travis Zajac.
