Timo is the probably the only player that I think has benefited from or will benefit with Green being head coach over Ruff. I think that was one thing Ruff probably deserves considerable criticism for this year. Insisting Timo play left wing, despite playing at right wing for 400+ games of his 500+ game NHL career.

It seemed like he was extremely upbeat when they interviewed the four core forwards the day after he was fired. I don’t know if there was a personal conflict or not, or if it was just that he clearly didn’t like being played on the opposite wing that he made a career out of.

And of course…

I have a framed picture of his goal celebration, this one

So, what needs to be done over the summer to get back into a contender?

We need: a #1 goalie, to get Haula to the bottom six, a 3C/4C, and a top 4D.

Palat - Hischier - Meier
XXX - Hughes - Bratt
XXX - Haula - Mercer
XXX - XXX - Lazar

XXX - Hamilton
Hughes - Marino
Bahl - Nemec

Saros/Ullmark/Markstrom
Allen

Notice that Holtz & Siegenthaler are not included there, as I assume that they can/will be traded for upgrades at the goalie or other positions.

List of potential FAs that may fit the XXX slots: Henrique, Bertuzzi, Skjei, Tanev, Pesce
I think Siegenthaler stays. He is still young and you shouldn't move him after one bad season. He also played pretty well with Dougie.

Potential FA forwards I would add to the list include Chandler Stephenson, Warren Foegle, Yakov Trenin.

I would also have Lazar as the 4C. We are also going to need a couple cheap forwards like Bastian and Nolan Foote for the 12th/13th forward slots. Cap will be tight if we are spending $5-6m on a goalie.

Best Zubrus highlight, bar none for me, was the 2 goal game against Philly in 2012. The empty net goal while getting tripped by Briere was I knew this team would make the Cup Final no matter who they'd play. They were getting scoring from everyone that year, Clarkson scoring 30 in a year will never not be funny too lmao.

And of course…

I was at that game with my older brother, I was like 14 at the time and didn't watch the game closely as I do but that pass by Elias was so beautiful to spring him

09 was a fun year before disaster hit. Sweeping the Pens was great. My first season as a STH as a 18/19 yr old

Look at how they celebrated that goal on the bench and how Parise tackled Zubrus, lol. They knew the Flyers were cooked once they got that win lol. Loved how Parise celebrated goals on a complete side note lol

And in hindsight, of course it was that douche Laviolette having Giroux headhunt people in that series.....

Kovys goal in game 3 was one of the loudest moments in the Rocks history. Thats when everyone knew the team was cooking something special

I remember sitting in my trigonometry class and seeing the noti that Kovy was out on my phone and basically texting my brother that the season was over because they were already down 1-0 to Philly, 2-0 would've been really bad but they somehow came through. To be fair, they manhandled the Flyers from start to finish in that series. Kinda reminds me of us last year where the Flyers had that really emotional series versus Pittsburgh and then the Devils just ran them over like Carolina did to us. Flyers just had no response for that NJD team in that series.

Went down a rabbit hole of 2012 highlights, besides the 2 Henrique OT goals, this is still the greatest powerplay I've ever seen in my life.

wow such a great shot. So cool to meet another big time Zubrus fan

During the run in 2011 Zubrus did a signing and I ordered a huge print of him carrying the puck up the ice. I had him write “2010-2011 season to remember” on it and I gave it to my friend for his birthday. We both loved Zubrus.

The ultimate Xweet for tonight lol

Lol, Holtz scores one goal and he thinks he’s hot shit!

The Timo Doomers have been awfully quiet lately

HIMo! I was way down on him and posted here that I thought the trade was a mistake. I’ll be very happy to be wrong. “Most goals since Lindy Ruff was fired” instantly becomes my favorite stat of all time.

Why did I decide to cut onions this early in the morning?
