Literally nothing Fitz has said or done since the start of this season has given me any renewed confidence in him.
RE the bolded: Not really. We players get traded and signing extensions almost immediately fairly frequently. Also no, I've run various Capfriendly scenarios and quite easily filled out the roster with all of Pettersson, Siegs, and Bahl.
With the exception of Nico, just about every skater on this sorry ass team has been dogshit with the fundamentals and important details of the game…but it’s the rookie who scored 20 goalies while playing <10 minutes a night that they really need to put the screws to. f*** off.Not everyone needs to be a 200 foot player. If he can score 30 goals and cheat to offense IDGAF. Fitz went from hero to zero in one season. He couldn’t do anything wrong and now that’s all he’s doing
Hopefully they don’t bother. Who gives a shit what these losers have to say.So, when are the exit interviews?
Petey is far better than both. Bahl + whatever for Petey please!Pettersson won’t be an upgrade over Siegenthaler, possibly not over Bahl either.
Honestly i’m surprised so many people are ready to jump ship on half the team after one clusterf*** season. Literally nobody looked good this year except for Nemec, Bratt (who still took his contractually obligated 6 weeks off in the middle of the season), and Hischier, who is a perfect hardworking boy that nobody hates.
I see little reason to make wholesale changes to a roster that mostly got better after one of the best regular seasons in franchise history.
I understand he does need to be better at things other than scoring goals to become a regular top 6 guy in this league, but for a guy who played every game this season to still be in the doghouse of both management and coaching makes me think either they're mishandling him or he's just not that good or doesn't want to put in the effort to be better at those things. Or maybe it's just a bad fit and the best thing for all parties is to move him somewhere he can start fresh. It's starting to feel like a Zacha situation where it's shit or get off the pot time. Why Draft Holtz if you wanted a 200 foot player player!
Lundell! Jarvis! Rossi! You could have picked them for that!
My thoughts on the 2023-24 season...
Lowkey huge reason this season sucked was our unbelievably awful home record.
38-38-5 .494%
Home 17-21-3 .451%
Away 21-18-2 .537%
That’s ridiculous. The last time we had a better away record than home? Last season, and it was f***ing annoying then.
Before that, 2000-01.
Before that, 1998-99.
Before that, never, because it’s happened 4 times in 41 seasons.
Usually the home record is a lot better than the away record, the Devils need to rediscover that time-honored tradition.

Seriously, what is that bullshit for 23-24?
As a comparison, here’s the Away & overall record (in parentheses) of 23-24 and the four seasons with the closest record.
88-89 Away 10-23-7 .338% (27-41-12 .413%)
16-17 Away 12-23-6 .366% (28-40-14 .427%)
23-24 Away 21-18-2 .537% (38-38-5 .494%)
21-22 Away 11-26-4 .317% (27-46-9 .384%)
85-86 Away 11-28-1 .288% (28-49-3 .369%)
An example of how to do slightly under .500 right:
1990-91
Home 23-10-7 .662%
Away 9-23-8 .325%
Overall 32-33-15 .494%
I'm not saying it's a given. I'm saying it's not an unrealistic circumstance. Lindholm, Severson, Tkachuk, PLD, Buchnevich, Horvat, and others I haven't looked into beyond a cursory glance at Capfriendly, all were traded with extensions essentially already agreed to in recent years.I think you will find that players within 1 year to UFA don’t sign extensions before they play a game with their new team very frequently - Devils didn’t do it with Timo, Vegas got Hanafin to sign but not before playing there, etc. I just think when that’s a big part of the deal you have to be realistic about the chances of an ext being signed and how much you will end up paying for the privilege (would you sign a 29yr old petterson as a UFA on the market - it’s probably going to cost that since you aren’t buying out any years)
They said Hynes system was too complicated..
They said Ruff's system was too loose.
They said Green was just bad.
They said it was the goalies
They said it was the scoring
They said it was the defense
Hmmm?
