Who could forget what he looked like. Everyone? That’s my best guess.

Fiddler was washed by the time he got here (4 points in 59 games his final season, that's almost Tuomo Ruutu bad). But he was a solid depth player in his day.

That line with him, Wood, and Blake Speers they tried for 3 games was easily one of the worst lines the Devils have ever iced in their history, even going back to the Scouts/Rockies days. 2015-2017 was filled with many dark days.

Getting a 2017 4th for Fiddler in Feb 2017 from Nashville was a shocker.

It seemed like all the brothers wore #43 in amateur hockey at one point and switched once in the NHL.
They did. They also all wore 6 at some point, I believe. 86 kind of came out of nowhere (other than being 43 x 2)

Jack wore 86 when he played for the Marlboros. I doubt it was the 43*2 thing people say. Probably just liked the number.

The U17 team doesn't get to pick their numbers. All 3 were assigned #43 (Casey too which is fun). Then their U18 year they all went to #6. Quinn also wore #6 with the Marlboros and Luke did with Little Caesars. They've said the number has some significance within the family. Jim wore #6 with Providence and maybe Ellen as well so all of the boys did too. Quinn went back to #43 at Michigan because #6 was taken. Quinn didn't switch from #43 in the NHL. That's still his number because Boeser has had #6. Same thing has happened with Luke. Taken in Michigan then taken in the NHL so he's stuck with #43

That had to just be a case of Poile really liking him and wanting him back for the stretch run that year, and for like roughly half a million on the cap. Fiddler broke into the NHL with Nashville and played there for quite a few years.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they also took P.A .Parenteau (a final training camp cut waiver pickup from the Islanders) from us later on, probably a little closer to deadline day. And I think they only gave us a 6th for him, despite him having a pretty good season for us. I think he wound up getting healthy scratched there frequently and would never play in the NHL again or pro hockey at all after that season.

For some reason I barely remember Fiddler playing for us, but Shero upgraded by signing a better and 4 or 5 year younger Fiddler the next year in Brian Boyle.

I completely forgot we had him. I mean, "I would have bet money he never played for us" kind of forgot.
