Well....

I never expected this Canes/Devils game to go to OT with no score (especially with Vitek in net; I swear I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and Vitek give up a softy so I was pleasantly SHOCKED TO THE CORE that THAT didn't happen).

Too bad Vitek stunk up the joint against Calgary or we could've had a total of 5 points these past 3 games (Avs, Flames, Canes) instead of just 3.

BTW, despite the loss, that was actually an entertaining game all things considered.

And one point is better than none, I guess.

Onto the next game then.

It doesn’t matter at this point. After tonight’s game they don’t need a goalie they need more goalscorers.
Nah.

Watch next game against Seattle where Vitek gives up another 5 goals.

Then we'll be right back where we started.

I said this after the Avs win that I don't trust Vitek and he proved me right last game (I wish he would prove me wrong for one goddamn time, though).

I was just being silly. Obviously one game doesn’t fix the goaltending

Posting this here too:

Devils were ASS in October and November. They got by with their crazy scoring and PP. They also had to deal with no Jack Nico and Timo. But this was the worst hockey they played. Their D structure was nonexistent and even I was not blaming the goalies in this stretch.

Then they had a nice stretch after Vancouver 1 where they put some good, not great but good enough hockey together where they would have been a playoff team if they stayed healthy. They went 10-3-4 and had a not bad GAA in that stretch until Jack went down.

When Siegs, Jack and co go down. Myself and others said they had to tread water until this upcoming “easy stretch” after the Avs and Canes. They barely did. Unfortunately they lost a few games due to goaltending. Probably 4-5 pts worth.

Is it too late? Probably. But they are finally almost healthy again besides Dougie. Lets see what they can do in the final 32.

I think most posters on here are smart enough to see these three phases the team has went through. And when they post that “they need to start winning in this next stretch “, they are saying that as a fan of the team. It doesn’t mean they don’t know what’s going on nor are delusional to their chances. It’s been a very tough and challenging season. We all know that. So we shouldn’t continue to poke at posters who look towards the next stretch. It doesn’t mean they don’t know what’s going on. They are simply being a fan.

Danometer is still at a 10.

What was the whole commotion of Markstrom/Friedman? I saw what he said but was there something else that came out that he had to refute that on hockey night in canada earlier tonight?

Devils discussed a trade for Markstrom last week but talks broke down

Oh I got that part, I just saw James Nichols tweet on twitter that Markstrom would waive + they were discussing a trade in depth. It was probably Friedman responding to that since twitter is a hell hole for news.

Well said. This is the first OT loss this season that I am not too bothered by.

Santeri Hatakka looks REAL GOOD.

They need 3 out of 4 this week with one of the 3 being Philly then 2 out of 3 next week.

A capper against Tampa at the end of the month would help too
