Last year Jack Hughes had 2.8 points per 60 5 on 5. This year he is at 1.91. Nico and Bratt are doing better than last year and at 2.64 and 2.48, respectively.

Nico is top 20 in the league when you take out the guys that haven't played much.

Jack is a shell of himself this year 5 on 5. This is supposed to be an MVP candidate/superstar?

Also Timo is at 1.35. This is our most expensive forward. He rate is slightly higher than Chris Tierney. And his rate wasn't much better last year.

I'm pretty confident when the new coach comes in next year that they'll look at Meier's season and move him back to where he's played for most of his career.

Even Ruff may decide to put him back there, by some miracle he survives this season.
Can't wait until Meier is healthy and utilized correctly, starts producing and people act surprised.

Dude didn't just forget to play hockey over the summer.

Palat - Hischier - Bratt
Hughes - Haula - Toffoli (only because of Jack's issues)
Mercer - Lazar - Meier
Bastian
- Nosek - Holtz

Why not play people in their positions that are skill players, and let the lunch pail guys who can probably handle either side do that? Mercer is tenacious and works hard - he can play either wing perhaps better than Meier can.

Since we all of a sudden like +/-

Our top 6 Dmen in ATOI were a collective +118 last year *not one was a minus

Our top 6 Dmen in ATOI this year are a collective -31. Only one is a plus - Kevin Bahl +3 as the the 6th Dman in ATOI

Nearly a 150 goal swing ...

That's not goaltending or coaching or preparation. That's clearly weaker personnel.

Jack was at 2.11 P/60 5v5 up until his first injury in St. Louis. 6.11 P/60 all strengths.

Since that injury, he's been at 1.84 P/60 5v5 and 2.99 at all strengths.

Wonder what happened.

I have no idea why people ignore injuries. Jack Hughes injured probably isn't supposed to be playing MVP caliber hockey.

Was he playing at a superstar level when he wasn't injured at the start of the year? Absolutely. He was leading the league by about double the points of the #2 guy at one point.

Timo played LW with Nico and Bratt and was fine, so I don't think which wing he plays matters as much as who he's playing with. No offense to Lazar, but he's a significant downgrade compared to Nico or Jack, and Mercer ain't no Bratt, especially this season.

Lol... how can you say it's not goaltending when using +/- as a measure? The goaltending was better last season... so was the defense... on the front and back end

lol, the Hamilton slander is getting outrageous. I get that it’s frustrating watching him skate through molasses, but the dude just scored 20 goals and 70 points. He was in spitting distance of breaking Scott Stevens’s franchise records. He is an enormous net positive to this team and it’s not really arguable.

Severson is a fine 2nd pairing guy. You don’t break the bank for 2nd pairing guys. CBJ fans are already talking about him possibly being a healthy scratch in Year 1 of an 8 year deal. This is silly.

Or maybe it does if his teammates are Nico and Bratt....

Maybe he needs to be RW if he's on a line that sucks or does not have those two?

You're an absolute fool if you're over Timo Meier in year 1 of his deal with an awful HC + injury plagued. If you want more from him, I can understand that but to say "give him away free" is hyperbole you'd see from a dumb fanbase like Toronto or the Rangers. We did this same shit with Dougie in 21-22, funny enough we did this SAME SHIT with Kovalchuk in 2010-2011. Straight amnesia from this fanbase.

I'd rather have Severson at a 6.25 million dollar cap until 2031 than Dougie at 9m until 2028.

LMAO, absolutely not.

That'll never be the case. Bratt is one of the more underrated forwards in the league

Depending on what "the core" means for Dubas and the Pens I was wondering if there would be any interest in Jarry?
Jarry
+he's signed long term to a reasonable contract
+ young
+ a starter
+ cheaper then Saros?

-Not as good as Saros
-Not as good as Markstrom

Saros
+Young
+one of the better goaltenders in the league
+starter

-Short Contract
-Wants $7 million +
-Expensive trade

Markstrom
+Best goalie available
+stop gap

- old
-probably wants a nice "in the the sunset contract"
-Expensive trade

You really are a knucklehead...first Fitz said "Bahl will be replacing Graves defensive minutes "...said it numerous times.

Luke did not in the least bit replace Graves deployment. Not 4v5 or 5 v5 or any other scenario...he replaced Seversons deployment moreorless.

We went into this season needing replace Severson and Graves....we did it with Luke,Bahl and Smith. It is not more complicated than that

And that replacement plan is piss poor.
Props for wheeling out "knucklehead".

Even before the injury he wasn’t the same 5 on 5. He needs to get back to last year’s level.

Timo is just a straight embarrassment. Makes me sick. He was crap to start the year too.

Hopefully they both are better next year.
