Just my opinion but I feel that Implying that those three (sans Smith) will miss time is inviting bad karma.

I mean...yeah it's the small elephant with Big Ears in the room but no need to mention it lest it comes true at the most inconvient time, you know?

Severson was playing 3rd pair last season. As far as transition game goes, Luke already replaces that.

Shara disappointed both in terms of goals and everything else besides goals. Basically played himself off the team.

Id be very surprised if Toffoli doesn’t far exceed his impact.

The things im concerned about is the young Dmen and Akira potentially falling back. But I think we will be OK at worst in regards to each.

We’re posting on a message board. If anything we say here has any impact on things that happen in the real world, the universe works very differently than I think it does. :laugh:

And honestly, I would expect the team to contingency plan for injury troubles. Planning for the worst is not the same as inviting the worst.

I'm worried about that third-line defensive pairing. Smith can't get penalties if he's in the locker room. Keep him there. Give Miller time to adjust.

Yeah, certainly appears to be the case.

On the plus side, he can probably get a few rehab games in Utica without having to clear waivers and there's a decent chance someone else will be on IR at that point, opening up a spot for him.

Better than possibly losing him to waivers already.

Nico with Timo and Alex, Jack with Ondrej and Tyler, Erik with Jesper and Dawson

that helps Holtz, uses Palat better, and adds a third matchup issue for defenses!
 
I just got back from the game and see the GDT so I'll put my thoughts here, really annoyed at the PK tonight with their failed clears leading to the 2nd and 3rd goals. Also, would love to see a kill on the one where Jack lost his cool a bit and slashed Walman (that's a penalty but the refs are blind for allowing it to get it there). Love what I saw from Vitek, two of the goals were utter trash that Detroit scored but he made some grade A saves. Jack is the third or fourth best player to watch live in the league imo besides McDavid/Makar/MacK.

You are going to be annoyed for another two weeks or so. First 8-10 games is always a crapshoot across the entire league with teams getting back into the swing of things and players learning new systems.

Let this team gel and then LET THEM

Honestly, I wasn't mad at their positioning and actual PK stuff but their clears were bad. It felt like Graves back there again, them winning tonight when they slept walked through the first 15 minutes ago is a very good sign imo.
