Can we just give Nico a couple weeks off? I feel like he’s always trying to play hurt to set a good example (that’s bad (the frogurt is also cursed)).

It's the classic Nico face that makes it seem that way, looking like he's on the brink of collapsing after every shift. Nothing out of the norm there.

But I do hope he's not rushing back. Same with Haula. It's still October, plenty of hockey left

Lol “anti-Fletcher base”. I guess Flyers ownership is in that base too.

As always, it’s you in is a pitched battle against other fans, whose takes all unite them into one group, that you have to lecture.
Was a clumsy post by me - not meant to disparage the entire fan base.

Ownership pretty much had to let him go as the outcry had become that strong. In retrospect, some of his moves are proving to be better than many thought when the team was bottoming out; particularly with later round picks and free agents.

how about we see if these dudes do literally anything in the NHL before we claim them to be "good moves".....?

Could Cal Foote play the right side along with Luke on left side on that third pairing? I'm trying to make Smith our 7th defenseman. Smith is a great locker room presence. Keep him there.

Something tells me Bratt likes to shoot on the right side.

Just a hunch.

lol. I know you love being a contrarian but Kevin Hayes is on half-retention for nothing, Travis Sanheim is already looking bad with just 7 years left to go on his current deal, DeAngelo was bought out, and Ristolainen hasn't played a game yet this year and the Flyers look halfway decent so far. Late round picks will almost never save a GM and they're barely his picks anyway - the Flyers have, unfortunately, almost always had competent drafting and development during my hockey-watching lifetime.

I read American, European and Russian various information sources and I perfectly see the difference in the breadth of opinions. People have certain information from sources to build their representation. And this is expected - the countries have been enemies for a long time, and they will remain so. Some countries of the Middle East do not represent a model of virtue, humanity and invest money in certain organizations(which then countries have to fight), which does not prevent them from investing money in them. No one will ask either your opinion or mine if the state needs to make friends somewhere and quarrel somewhere. Whether we are for or against.

You're right. I was watching the third season of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan last night and it occurred to me that once again they made Russia the bad guys. And that seems to be the easy trope, to always pick one or two countries, make them the "bad guys" and then paint with a broad brush.

It still bums me out.

with the bolts season opener being at 5pm and this frozen frenzy staggered time you think the nhl would follow baseball route and do 5pm starts for playoff games instead of squeezing off 4 at 7pm?

They better not. Mlb postseason scheduling is atrocious in each round before World Series.

Wild that people in Zona need to tune in at 2pm on a Monday for a League Championship game 6

So many unfairly maligned good moves.

Also before he made the greatest coach hiring in the history of the NHL in by giving John Tortorella 4 years/ ~4m, he hired Alain Vigneault.

Fletcher signed AV to a 5 year/5m deal on April 15, 2019 and fired him on December 6, 2021 after a 8-10-4 start (and a 8 game losing streak ending with a 0-3 home loss to the Devils lol).

People get fired for pissing away valuable drafting assets and millions of dollars in failed moves, or at least they should.

Bobby Brink was drafted with our 2019 #34 pick, they traded up for it, so it amuses me that they pissed away their 2022 2nd (#36), 2023 2nd (#39) and 2024 2nd (#?).

And you can’t act like that’s no loss when you point to both Brink and Emil Andrae (2020 #54) as key young players of the rebuild.

Pronman had the Flyers U23 Pipeline at #11. Elite Prospects had their Prospect Pool at #4 (their cutoff point is Calder eligibility.) Their youth isn’t particularly unsung and that doesn’t make Fletcher’s reign any less messy and underwhelming.

Fletcher was GM from Dec 2018 to March 2023. Picks like Farabee (2018 #17) and York (2019 #14) have worked out, fans who criticize Fletcher aren’t criticizing everything that happened under him. The team needed to move on from bad decisions he made, that typically involves firing the guy.

Michkov is signed in KHL until 2025-26, we know the window they’re shooting for.

Peterson trade/ AHL burial: 3.85m in dead cap space for 1 season after this year.
Hayes’ retained salary: 3.57m in dead cap space for 2 seasons after this year.

Hart will be a 25 year old RFA this summer and Konecny will be 28 year old UFA after 2024-25. So they have big decisions to make with these two.

(I realized too late this probably wasn’t the best thread for this but I already loaded these images lol.)

The early start games are getting nobody in the stadiums. The Rays attendance made national headlines in their series. The recent Dbacks/Phillies game 3 was selling for as low as $17 per ticket compared to the $300 or so that the night games brought in.
Teams lost a lot of money by the early starts but they were mandated by the TV contracts - which brought in significantly more money than was lost.

The only way NHL will do early games is if they get a lucrative TV deal demanding it.
