They'll probably practice Monday, they're too much athletes of routine to not skate or do anything till Wednesday since the game yesterday.
Do we know if the team will practice at all over the next few days? Or is it just nothing until the next BOS game?
I’m pretty sure every team has off the 24th, 25th and 26th, as per the CBA. It’s been like that for a while now, where there’s a mandatory 3 days without games or practices. Teams aren’t even allowed to travel on the 26th if they have a road game on the 27th. They have to travel the morning of. The Flyers were fined quite a few years back for flying out on the night of the 26th for their road game the next night.

The players can skate if they want on Monday, but it’s not allowed to be team sanctioned. But I’m sure they’re able to show up and use the rink if they’d like.

The next official team practice will be Tuesday.

Let's pump the brakes on this. They didn't thoroughly outplay them outside of one period when the game was essentially out of reach and Boston took it's foot off the gas. Erase the bad goal and it's still 2-1 plus a wide open Pasternak in the slot.

We haven't *thoroughly* done anything in the last 7-10 games or so. Blackwood has only been around for two, and one of those was our only win where he stood on his head.

We still aren't finishing, and we are still playing a dicey brand of hockey that has managed to make Vitek and Schmid doubt their confidence too.

Until we get a good goaltending plus a game that isn't filled with breakdowns and odd man rushes or goalie fails, I don't think we should be declaring any moral victories since the truth is that we are paper thin and a couple of injuries have managed to destabilize us.

What we need are for the next row of teeth to step up. Johnsson/Holtz haven't done that. Bahl has to a degree. Best thing that can happen for this team is to struggle until we find our next layer of depth players.
Nah. We outplayed Boston and have played fine during this stretch outside of net and finishing. We’ve played teams evenly and outplayed teams while still taking L’s this whole stretch. That game was great evidence of how we are the exact opposite of paper thin, actually. Down an entire top 4 pairing we looked pretty damn good against literally the league’s best team.

Yes, the team is substantially better than ‘17-‘18. No question. Are they a cup contender? Do you think they have what it takes to beat the best teams in the league? Because it sure looks to me like they don’t.

I don’t want to be like San Jose or Nashville. If we don’t have a legitimate chance to win the cup, I want to improve the quality of the prospect pipeline.

Yes, I was being dismissive when I called the Hurricanes “mid”. Obviously they aren’t. But I was completely serious when I said that I don’t think they’re anything special. They aren’t. They’re a good but beatable team, and if this team had what it took to win in the Spring they would have imposed their will in that game to stop the skid.

The ugly truth is that deep playoff runs mean nothing. Only championships matter. Ask an Ottawa fan. For a third of the season this team looked like it might have had that ability. Now it has shown that it does not beyond a shadow of a doubt and the only thing left to decide is how bad our draft pick is going to be.
cup contender? of course this team isn't a cup contender. Anyone who thought they were a cup contender had insane expectations. Meaningful games in 2nd and playoff contention. Teams is meeting those expectations for me.

What? They played Boston evenly at minimum, I’d say they outplayed them. Did the devils even give up a single odd man rush to them? I don’t think so. The only memorable major defensive breakdown i can think of was when Bahl turned it over and the bruins player was left all alone in front of the net. They played very well defensively overall with an entire top 4 pairing out with injury. How is that not impressive?

Meanwhile Boston gave up several high quality rush chances that ther goalie made saves on. This wasn’t one of those games where the devils gave up a bunch of wildly great chances. Their goalie was very good and ours stunk. Only difference I saw.

For those curious why some of us are no nervous about all the losing this month.

December swoons have been a thing for this team a lot in recent history.

Hopefully for this team It's just a bump in the road and January is back to normal

While I understand, this is nothing more than coincidence.

The way they lose is also way different this year, I haven't felt once they didn't belong in a game. Can't say the same about previous seasons.

Agreed, there's three games I turned off early this season, and two of those were the first two games of the season. Almost every game I was able to watch, I felt we had a chance to win and it was worth seeing the whole game through.

What happened with the 3rd game you turned off?
I’m gonna guess the Islanders game? That was one of the other games weren’t in this year at any point after like early in the 2nd period.

It did look like we weren’t gonna be in the last game against Boston after 2 periods.

Ehh a few of the games in this stretch felt over after 2 because the team was incapable of scoring.

Secondary market prices for tomorrow are CRAZY. Just about $200 plus fees for a ticket in the lower level. I guess people like PAIN.
