I am providing facts, as are others. Point totals, analytics, xGF totals, etc.

All you are saying is "THERE IS MORE THAN THAT!!!" and then providing nothing else.

Like I said, when literally everyone here disagrees with you, maybe you should start to think about your stance.

I agree that Bratt is tremendously important to this team and a great player.

I do want to bring attention to the bolded statement though. Yes, the numbers are the numbers. As long as the math is done correctly, they are facts. What isn't fact is the interpretation of the numbers (specifically stats that calculate expected anything), and I think that is an important distinction that is often lost in these conversations.

I think our forward pool is looking pretty weak.
Holtz is looking pretty meh or at least not a fit with us. There really isn’t anyone else that is overly likely to carve out an NHL career or at least an impactful to this point. Probabky best we draft forward with our next pick and give that part of the pool a boost.
The forward pool is incredibly weak. Outside of Holtz we have no "top tier" prospects unless I'm really forgetting someone. Having said that, hitting on Zetterlund and Mercer has helped alleviate some of my concerns about that. Plus we have enough cap space coming off the books this off season to go fishing again even if we give Bratt a deal that's going to make half this board orgasm and half cry over how much money/term it is.

Say on the topic of fishing. How much should we be willing to give and how much would it cost for Pastrnak. I’d imagine he’ll be in the 11-12M range unless he takes a discount for Boston.

I saw a report on Twitter yesterday from a Boston radio guy (no not Jimmy Murphy) that they were closing in on an 8 x $11 contract

but who knows if thats true

edit- here it is

I'd give Pastrnak a blank check, an elite right handed shot which would legit fix the powerplay issues imo + walking 50-55 goals next to Hughes in his prime.

Bratt is a very good player legit top 6 for sure. Is he as good as some folks make him out to be? Idk. The top producers in the league now are routinely hitting >100 points in a full season. Brat’s ppg pace is akin to ~65-70 point season in years past.
They need top 3 production from him (90-100)pts esp if you are going to pay him 9 million

hes at 1.5 seasons now of a point per game and has routinely some of the best underlying numbers in the sport among ALL players. Hes 24 years old.

Hes a bonafide top line winger, and one of the best in the NHL.
So in theory one of the best in the nhl should be 9+ no? Means you guys sure do sell the stats a lot it sounds like a no brainer 9+ for him.

have you paid attention to the recent contracts around the league? There are 22 forwards who make at least $9 million or more right now. It isnt the elite number as it used to be ~5 years ago.

I'm not saying he will definitley get that much. But his contract will at LEAST be $8/year.

You think if they offered him 8x8 right now he'd turn it down? I wonder if he would. I also wonder if they'd offer it tbh.

What on earth are you talking about?
He spun himself into a pretzel on that one

Yes I forgot this msg board is filled with former nhl veterans and former hall of fame coaches.

@JrFischer54 please let us know what you think Bratt's contract should look like
I honestly don’t even know because I don’t even want him on the team I rather trade him for a pure goal scorer. Guess let’s see how he finishes the year but no I don’t think I would do 8 if I’m Fitz I’m not talking contract until season is over that’s for sure.

I'm fairly certain Bratt could win a scoring title and certain posters would still find a way to bitch about him.
I'm pretty sure it could hit 110° in Vermont in February and some people would still deny that climate change exists.

It doesn't negate the fact that neither will come close to happening in our lifetime.

He's very good and I'd like for him to stay. But if he's going to be a prick about $$ then bye. I'd rather spend an extra 1-2 mil on a comparable guy who actually wants to be here.

What if he asks 8.5-8.75 mil?
