Why are referees refusing to call penalties against players that maul Hughes ? Just like McDavid in the playoffs , teams would hang off of hI’m and waterski off of him, hook , hold , slash the piss out of him and refs refused to make calls …
Only reason I can see why is because if they actually called it by the textbook of what a penalty is , McD and Jack would draw 14 penalties a game .
Its bullshit . “Oh , you are so much better than most players so we cannot call every single infraction or you’d always be on the PP”
It neuters elite players when refs let way too much go when players try to defend them
The very definition of game management and why it’s bad for hockey.

One of the downsides of a being a smaller player. He can't force through contact.

Wood is certainly pacing for his most minutes in the last few games I believe..............

Severson is a dynamic PMD and he very good at a number of transition/offensive parts of the game and even some defensive aspects.

He’s also soft around the net and makes terrible puck management decisions around there too. He’s just doesn’t have good attention to details in that area.

All that can be true at the same time.

And I’m fine with not re-signing him long-term with a raise, so miss him or not, I’m at peace with him going.

It’s almost unfair for defenders having to try to stop Jack . Either it takes another elite player like Heiskanen to try to stop him or someone has take what should be a called penalty ( that’s usually not cal because it is bullshit) or they get lucky.

Top-notch analysis. He is what he is at this point.

Akira Schmid is again the best goalie in the AHL in GAA.
It's time for Dineen to name him number 1 and use Daws on back to backs and occasional starts. It's more than halfway and the Comets have actually moved into a real close race with Syracuse, Rochester and Laval. One of them will miss the playoffs as nobody is going to catch the Marlies.

A game by game rotation is not the way to go with this kid. He has simply moved past Daws.

Devils should hire Chara as a specialist coach for our young defenseman. Both in NHL and Utica.

He'll be perfect to teach Bahl how to use his size more effectively, teach Luke Hughes and Nemec defensive zone positioning and also be a mentor for Nemec.

I love how Dano "scolds" Severson for his bonehead plays and wishes he would make different decisions...This is Damon's 8 millionth NHL game Dano. He is what he is...and I still take him on the third pair.

Apparently it is totally fine to tackle the opposition from behind now. But only if it is in the 3rd period and if it’s tied.
Shara literally got grabbed from behind and tackled . No call .

By contact you mean clutching and grabbing and holding because they can’t hit him cleanly
They just need to keep their stick on him so he can't pivot. It's just one of those disadvantages. Bigger player will be able to steer him.
