1 Timo
2 Jack
3 Nico
4 Jesper
5 Ondrej
6 Tyler
7 Erik
8 Michael
9 Nathan
10 Dawson
11 Lazar
12 Nosek
13 Tierney
If you are going to get to the 15 everyone is talking about they must be in this group:
Foote
Holtz
Clarke
That means only 1 of the 'kids" stays. Holtz and Clarke aren't eligible. That place Foote on the roster unless they figure he is expendable if claimed.
Lazar, Nosek, and Tierney are basically NHL players.
Tierney has played 22 AHL games in the last 8 years.
Nosek hasn't played an AHL game in the last 6 seasons.
Lazar has the most AHL/NHL ups and downs, but the last 3 seasons have all been in the NHL.
Tierney is the only 1 of the 3 on a 2-way contract calling for a $400k salary in the AHL. The other 2 would each make $1Mil. That either makes him the re-assignment to the AHL and risk his being claimed or one of the other 2, most likely Lazar, gets waived for the purpose of playing in the AHL.
From my observations in their AHL play:
- I don't believe Clarke is a player who makes any kind of impact in the NHL.
- Holtz will only fit if he is given the opportunity to skate with a line intended to score. Still at 21 for a good portion of this coming season, another year in the AHL perfecting his flaws and putting up BIG numbers might see him making an impact in Jersey next season. Sitting in the press box since Lindy doesn't seen to want to suffer through his acclimation, is just not going to do a thing to raise his play to an NHL level. He's reached the point of play him, send him down for 1 more extensive development period, or trade him to someone that will give him ice time to let him get it down or bust.
- Foote would have to clear waivers.
He is not a PK specialist.
He is not a strong defensive forward unless he only plays that way when in NJ.
He is not the power forward people seem to see him as. Going down the boards with the puck and attempting to barge his way past a defender (forward or D-man) who is facing him usually sees him stopped and oftentimes not only stopped, but down on the ice.
He is not a fast skater nor a guy with keen edges.
Unless I and CapFriendly have both missed a player. the Devils don't have 15 forwards not counting 1 of Foote or Holtz.
Do the Devils run with 13 Fs and 7 D after signing Bahl. (Why is this one taking so long?)
How about 13 forwards and 8 D with Nemec not getting everyday ice? Bad move IMO.
I'm guessing the 1-13 forwards above + Foote and 7 D unless Fitz picks up 1 more player that's looking for work.
A trade for Helle changes the whole schematic.
