Depends what you mean by he deserves it. Does he deserve it over guys like Bahl and Okhotiuk who have been grinding it out in the AHL and did really well when they finally got their chance? Not a chance in hell.

At the end of the day he’ll likely have the opportunity but whoever shows the best should play.

The only issue with Smith is I’m not sure he’s a great fit here anymore. We’ll see what happens. Wouldn’t he disappointed if he was part of a trade.
