He should be able to play 53 games or even 55.

Once you get into the upper 50's and 60's...... Not many guys do that anymore, outside of the workhorses (Hellebuyck, Vasilevskiy, Saros) and their teams usually sign BUMS like Rittich, Elliott and Lankinen, who you don't really expect to give 20 starts to, provided their guy stays healthy.

53 is playing 2/3. 3/4 like you suggested puts him into that upper 50s range.

Palet has played 12 games out of 44, but yes, the additions mean something.

It definitely looks like the two new assistant coaches have really improved how the team plays Ruff’s system both offensively and defensively.

Also the team’s younger players have matured after having their first real full season under Ruff, 2020-21 was weird 56 game hell season with few full practices.

How many of those 12 were wins?

11-12: 25-17-2 for 52 points. And I bet about 8 or 9 of those 25 were in the shootout. Where only 1 of our 29 is a shootout win. We won 12 shootouts that year and the majority of them were in the first few months. Yeah, I think it was 8 of those 25 were shootout wins. We got point 61 that year in game 51 of that year.

17-18: 24-12-8 for 56 points. Game 44 of that year was Taylor Hall's OT winner against Washington. A 4 game regulation losing streak started after that game and we wound up losing 8 of 11 in regulation after it. That's when the whole ''Florida is gonna catch up and take our spot'' thing started. With that lousy stretch. We didn't get point 61 (and 62) until game 51 of that year.

After the opening faceoff of the 3rd period, Bratt blocked a pass with his body (apparently Couture was trying to find Bratt's man) which led to the Devils breakaway involving Palat then Nico.

Iirc, the team’s underlying numbers actually improved after the trade for Vatanan (they were horrible for most of the stretch they won that year), but goaltending sunk the team in the 2nd half.
