Hey guys, Rangers fan, living in NJ, don't get discouraged, you guys have plenty of young talent and you guys will go through this rebuilding phase just like the Rangers have and you'll be back in the playoffs soon, the Pens and Flyers and Caps are all on the way down, Rangers, Devils and Isles on the way up. Glad nobody got hurt, hopefully game won't be too ugly, but I assume it will be. GG much respect.

That's certainly one way of looking at it
I mean our special teams make 0 sense. We are missing two of our top point producers and Nico is still rusty. 5on5 is way more indicative of future production. Next year with hopefully healthy guys and replaced special teams coaches it will be better. If they were even close to league average we would be close to playoffs.

I mean, I’m bearish on Nico than most for some reason. He played some of his worst hockey towards the end of last season and that’s still left a bad taste in my mouth. I want nothing more for him to prove me wrong and turn into the next Bergeron.

despite what i've read on here, nico is not the best player on this team, and we need him to be

It’s really unfortunate that both Zacha and Bratt went down for Nico’s sake.

That would have been a terrific line for him to play on. Instead, he’s left playing with borderline NHL players.

Nico is understandably still in preseason mode. He needs to play to get back up to speed but man does he look bad.

Jack and Smith are the only players who make me optimistic for the future.
Yeah I can’t believe Nico isn’t magically playing great after returning to the ice three games after a two month absence (after only playing five games with no pre-season obviously).

What’s annoying about this Nico bellyaching is that we went through this same bitchfest during his first five games. There was a lot of instant complaining about Nico, where some pretended to acknowledge his rust (without actually acknowledging the effects of the rust, combined with the lack of team practices, in any real way).

Nico has not been good in these three games (and has been playing on some nightmarish line combos in the last two games).

Nico was scoreless in his three first games back in February too. And these exact type posts (perhaps from the same posters) appeared during those three games too.

I’m in no way promising 2G 1A in his next two games, but Nico got clearly better in a five game period before his face broke. I have little patience about people being passive aggressive weirdos about Nico. Nico is not a problem, you can’t debate him into a problem. Sorry.

All you have to do is see who his linemates are and understand why he isnt getting points. Johonsson has been our worst forward all season up until we got rid of Gusev. I thought he was going to be a good sparkplug like player who chips in goals and plays an aggressive smart 2 way game. Instead we got the exact opposite.

I thought Nico was fine. He's playing with actual dead weight out there.
He also should of had a point or two while playing with said dead weight. He had two fantastic passes that didn't get capitalized on. He doesn't look great but he certainly wasn't awful.

Nope, still down by 3 and put another L on the board... they’re learning curve will be through the roof come next year!
You got me there Captain Logic, those two empty netters, one scored with 22 seconds left, after scoring three unanswered goals in the 3rd surely crushed the youth and they may never recover from this.

They must be so bummed and aren’t excited at all to play tomorrow and try to win after the attempted comeback. You know, with the culture of losing and all.

He needs to be one of the two best long-term if Hughes is the other.

Short-term I ain't expecting much at this point. Hopefully the last 5-10 games he'll actually pick his game up but it's been so many stops and starts this season it's basically a wash for him.

Everyone knocks Dell but every game he's played was under fire especially against the Caps....Dell stayed in it today and made some key saves to get us chance to get back in it
Meh

He stunk today. Goals 3 and 4 weren’t good. You think he was good because he didn’t allow a goal in the 3rd period or the second half of the game? He was terrible.

I’ll give you the Caps game. He wasn’t bad in that one.

i honestly wouldn't mind or care if he didn't dress for another game this year since the season is lost and he has nobody competent to play with. i'm sure he'll manage to get injured again at some point

We actually played pretty well in the first but trailed 3-0 because they got a 5-on-3 in the first period and scored on both. Dell was fine.
Goals 3 and 4 weren’t good.

The rebound on goal 3 was a very routine one.

Goal 4 was so bad. I don’t care who scored it. That was a terrible goal. I don’t care how good Panarin is.

After all the bad luck he’s had this year and the fact that he’s nowhere close to being in mid season form, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him coast the rest of the way. He’s not playing for a contract, he’s being paired with the worst set of wingers he’s had in ages and we’re battling the Sabres for that 1st overall Cup.

Expecting Nico to just turn it on after all he went through this year isn’t realistic.

If Nico's 'coasting' because the games mean nothing then we have the wrong captain. I don't think it's in his nature to coast regardless.
He looks tired more than anything to me, doesn’t have his legs yet but he certainly looks like he’s trying and you can tell he is getting frustrated. Also fumbling pucks at times.

Coasting might not be the best use of word but let’s just say he won’t be going through a brick wall in our remaining games and with the season he’s had and our position in the standings, I wouldn’t blame him one bit.
